🚀 Kicking off the Netherlands Trade Mission on Sustainable Agriculture and Water to Kenya! 🌍🌱💧 This morning, the four-day economic mission to Kenya, bringing together over 100 participants from more than 50 Dutch companies, financial organisations, and knowledge institutions in sustainable agriculture, horticulture, and the water sector from The Netherlands, took off. We are honored to have been invited by the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Kenya to participate and share our collective contribution to the Kenyan water sector. This morning, our Managing Director Josien Sluijs participated in a panel session, diving into the role of #financial institutions and exploring exciting opportunities within Kenya’s agriculture and #water sectors. During the mission, Josien will visit the Co-operative Bank of Kenya, as we recently signed an exciting new partnership to de-risk financing for 15 water utility infrastructure projects in the country. This collaboration is a step towards boosting Kenya's water sector! We’re also looking forward to engaging with participants at the marketplace event, an inspiring platform for discussing sustainable solutions that can create lasting impact, and share our achievements with the Ministerie van Buitenlandse Zaken, Inclusive Green Growth Department, Embassy staff and leading companies. Kenya is one of the most important emerging markets in East Africa. The economy has been growing at an average rate of 5% per year in recent years. The Kenyan government and local businesses are striving for sustainable solutions to tackle critical societal challenges. The priorities include: 🌾 Enhancing food security 🌱 Building sustainable and climate-resilient agriculture and horticulture 🌍 Improving soil health 💧 Managing water resources more effectively and sustainably. We are proud to contribute to these transformative efforts and invite you to learn more about our work and the results we’ve achieved in Kenya. 🌍💧 INTERNATIONAL WOMEN'S DAY (MARCH 8): Accelerate Action for Gender Equality! 💧🌍 This International Women's Day, we put the spotlight on the transformative impact of access to safely managed drinking #water on the lives of women. Meet Heng Sreypich, a Cambodian woman whose life and opportunities improved when she gained access to clean water through our partner Khmer Water Supply Holding (KWSH). Three years ago, Heng was selling fruit at the market, but today, thanks to a piped water connection, she now runs a successful laundry service in Puok. Her income has increased eightfold, empowering her to create a better future for herself and her community. KWSH is dedicated to improving the lives of Cambodian families by providing safely managed piped-water connections at household level. As part of their commitment to making a lasting difference, they actively participated in our Impact Linked Finance for WASH (ILF for WASH) programme, helping to create healthier and more sustainable communities. Access to safe water is not just a fundamental human right — it's also about unlocking opportunities for women to thrive, build businesses, and achieve their dreams. It significantly impacts their safety, as they are often the primary water-gatherers in their households. Reliable access to water prevents women from having to undertake long, sometimes dangerous journeys that can expose them to gender-based violence or other physical health risks. Ensuring safe water access is crucial for the empowerment and well-being of women around the world. But there's more to be done! Gender inequality remains a systemic barrier, and women around the world still face countless biases in both personal and professional spheres. This #IWD2025, let’s #AccelerateAction to break down these barriers and create lasting change for women everywhere. Let’s work together to speed up progress toward a future where every woman has the resources, support, and opportunities she deserves. 💪💙🌍 📢 Stay tuned — We’ll soon be sharing the results of a new research exploring the powerful link between #WASH outcomes and gender equality. This morning Gary White (Founder, Water.org), and our Managing Director Josien Sluijs kicked off the programme at the World Water-Tech Innovation Summit. Their discussion centered on addressing the crucial challenge of bridging the #financing gap for global water access. 💡 Key take-aways: 1) We need to scale investing in #water and make it mainstream; to bridge the service gap, we need to mobilise trillions of dollars from private resources because public and philanthropic capital alone is not enough 2) Access to private capital for enterprises, infrastructure and households, creates a market for #innovations and tech-companies. Stay tuned for more news on this 👇 Inclusive Green Growth Department | Ministerie van Buitenlandse Zaken | Aquatech | Eva Schreuder | Viola Chelang'at Kilel ,CDFA | Jopy Willems | WaterEquity | Total Impact Capital | Netherlands Water Partnership (NWP) | Cardano | Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation | Conrad N. We're kicking the programme off with an opening fireside chat on bridging the financing gap to access clean water with Josien Sluijs, Managing Director, Aqua for All, THE NETHERLANDS and Gary White, Founder, Water.org, USA.

💧 Can financing be the key to clean water access? 💧 💡 The World Bank's new report, "Funding a Water-Secure Future: An Assessment of Public Spending," quantifies for the first time how much governments spend on water and the size of the #financing and #funding #gaps that must close to meet people's needs. 🔊 Join the discussion with Gary White (Founder, Water.org), and our Managing Director Josien Sluijs in which they tackle the challenge of bridging the financing gap for global water access at #WorldWaterTech tomorrow! 🌍 More details 👇 Claire Brown Lyons | Incofin Investment Management | Roots of Impact | Inclusive Green Growth Department | Invest International | FMO - Dutch entrepreneurial development bank
According to the The World Bank, investments in #water infrastructure must quadruple to achieve Sustainable Development Goal 6 — #cleanwater and #sanitation for all. #Climatechange is intensifying the #watercrisis, damaging infrastructure, and increasing #waterstress for low-income populations vulnerable to its impacts. Join Gary White and Josien Sluijs at the World Water-Tech as they discuss solutions to bridge the financing gap and accelerate access to clean water.
