Last week's event in Minneapolis left me energized and full of optimism for next year’s edition, set for ✨ October 21-23 ✨, always in beautiful Minneapolis... with a new venue to be announced soon! Save the date! 📅 The alternative protein industry has faced its share of ups and downs in the past two years, but the long-term growth continues, and consumer interest remains strong. 🌱 Here are some key takeaways that stuck with me: 🌍 Ethnic Flavors Are in Demand: Beyond burgers and sausages, the potential for ethnic flavors is huge. Consumers are loving Chinese, Mexican, and Italian options, opening new doors for diverse plant-based products. - Lu Ann Williams 📣 Communication is Key: There’s a long way to go for CPGs to counteract misinformation circulating on social media (think carnivore diet or backlash against seed oils and methylcellulose). These trends aren’t going away anytime soon, and companies must leverage social media to share the science and educate consumers. - Oatly Paula Perez 📜 Clean Label is Non-Negotiable: Shoppers want products with ingredients they recognize and can pronounce. As regulations tighten (https://lnkd.in/gaUNF3YC), the food industry will need to adapt.
