In anticipation of Meta Connect 2024 and the prospect of new MR hardware, we worked on a little Meta Quest 3 experiment. With 'Still Waters', we set out to create a tactile Mixed Reality mini experience. As you walk up to the water's edge an uneasy feeling of vertigo or thalassophobia might creep up. Kneel down to interact with the water's surface but beware of the creatures below! For this experience we focussed on fidelity and interactivity. Our inhouse team created a custom high performance water shader as well as custom 3D assets and VFX. The feedback from the physical ground while displacing the virtual water is especially effective. Special shout out to our team Adrian Ratiu, Julian Plak, Eren Önem, Tom Geurts & Miyaki Truong! We intend to release this soon via App Lab on Quest for anyone to try.
