“I sometimes say I was born orange. I found a place that is culturally absolutely akin to my nature and my style… a place with a large number of outstanding engineers, and a place where you don’t see a divide between business and tech that I have seen in many other places.” - Daniele Tonella, #ING CTO. It’s here! Today we published our Annual Report 2024, providing an overview of our achievements during the past year and showing our progress on our strategy and our two priorities: providing superior value to customers and putting sustainability at the heart of what we do. “We have had a solid year on all counts in 2024; we were able to deliver on our promises on the basis of a very strong financial performance. This would not have been possible without the dedication of our more than 60,000 colleagues in 36 countries serving our customers worldwide, and we thank them for their hard work and collaboration,” write chairman Karl Guha and CEO Steven van Rijswijk in their message to shareholders and stakeholders. “We believe that ING is well positioned, and we are confident in our ability to navigate through the existing and emerging challenges as we continue to deliver on our promises.” Learn more https://lnkd.in/et5MFkDH

No one likes to be scammed, including this lovely lady! That's why last year, ING Nederland introduced a "Check the Call" feature on the ING app to combat calls from scammers. Since it's launch, bank helpdesk fraud has dropped by 43%! 🎉 ING Italia has also launched this feature. 🌟 Look out for ING Nederland's campaign now on air, highlighting how customers use this feature in their own way! #MoneyMatters #SafeBanking #ING

This evening marks the beginning of #Ramadan, the holiest month in Islam! For those observing, it means neither eating nor drinking between dawn and sunset. How can we create a more inclusive workplace for them during this time? We asked six colleagues and they shared their tips with us. Thank you Elderderi, Elif, Talal, Serap, Ali and Marlly! Are there more tips to add? Feel free to share them in the comments! #CulturalDiversity #Inclusion

Corporate calm vs economists’ concerns. After interviewing numerous European corporate leaders, Marieke discovered that despite geopolitics topping the 2025 risk list, business leaders remain unconcerned. Financial markets also reflect this calm. In contrast, economists have expressed concern over the persistent uncertainty. Which camp are you in? Read Marieke's analysis before taking our poll this #VotingFriday ✏️ https://lnkd.in/eKEaVYa9

A read for this weekend by Marieke Blom.
ING research shows that #business leaders believe the #geopolitical issues that have had the biggest negative impact on their companies over the last decade are: - The war in Ukraine - Supply chain challenges such as #tariffs, export controls and #sanctions. And they say three positive impacts of geopolitics are: - Increased activity in Europe – companies expect to benefit from additional production facilities in Europe to replace imports - Shifting attitudes towards less #regulation and more direct financial support for businesses - The potential to gain market share by being better prepared, more agile and using #hedging strategies to mitigate price changes. On the other hand, #economists are much more concerned about how #geopolitics could affect the economy. The latest Chief Economists Outlook from the World Economic Forum warns of subdued growth and a tumultuous year ahead. But this is not about being right or wrong – here's how to use these different perspectives – corporate calm versus economists’ concerns – to make sense of today’s complex world. It’s no secret that women are underrepresented in the world of IT. While the industry’s progress towards gender equality has been slow, there are many women forging a career in Tech, like Claire Ann Lopez, who is the fourth of our five-part series focusing on the women trailblazers in Tech at #ING. "I have been lucky to experience great female leadership at the early stage of my career, and that gave me the confidence to know I could also succeed in this field." As we progress with our efforts to enable the transition to a more #sustainable economy, we engage with clients and support them in driving down emissions. Meanwhile, we build up financing for new technology and sustainable systems of the future, enabling clients to play their part in the transition. ING's alliance with Project SkyPower helps reduce the use of fossil fuels in the aviation sector. Our CEO, Steven van Rijswijk, shares the following: "Future-proofing aviation is a critical challenge. That’s why we are excited to support the further development and availability of e-SAF as one of the areas that can contribute to reducing the use of fossil fuels in the sector. Together with the partners in the alliance, we will be looking for opportunities to help scale production of such fuel. Progress will require a system-wide approach, including engagement with governments and policy makers." Society is transitioning to a low-carbon economy. So are our clients, and so is ING. We finance a lot of sustainable activities, but we still finance more that's not. See how we are progressing ing.com/climate
📢 Today, 70+ companies have written to the European Commission urging them to urgently de-risk the scale-up of e-SAF production capacity in Europe. Europe has a significant opportunity to lead the world in the innovative jet fuel e-SAF, strengthening energy security, creating high-value jobs, driving cleantech innovation, and unlocking a global market of EUR 350+ bn. Action is essential to ensure success of the critical ReFuelEU Aviation mandates. The continent has all the critical ingredients to lead – clean power, biogenic CO₂, and industrial expertise – and the private sector is ready to act. But key barriers – revenue uncertainty, regulatory risk, and the challenges of first-of-a-kind projects – are slowing progress. And the window of opportunity is closing. First-of-a-kind plants must reach Final Investment Decision by end 2025 in order to be operational by the turn of the decade. Five key policy actions can catalyse a wave of corporate action: 1️⃣ Make e-SAF a strategic priority in the Clean Industrial Deal and the Sustainable Transport Investment Plan 2️⃣ Recycle ETS revenues from aviation to capitalise a market intermediary that enters long-term contracts with e-SAF producers and short-term contracts with offtakers 3️⃣ Establish a bridging mechanism in 2025 to support first movers before the intermediary comes online 4️⃣ Provide certainty on mandates, production criteria, and penalties 5️⃣ Mitigate project-on-project risk via a government-backed backstop mechanism ✈️ By making e-SAF a strategic priority, the EU can help ensure aviation continues to benefit communities and economies while reducing its climate impact. 🔗 Read the full letter here: https://lnkd.in/dQUA2Djv #eSAF #Leadership #EU 360 Asset Finance GmbH Airlines for Europe (A4E) Groupe ADP Air France-KLM Airbus aireg - Aviation Initiative for Renewable Energy in Germany e.V.
