A milestone for East Africa’s poultry sector | 3 Years of PoultryTechUganda achievements   As we look back on the last three years, we are very proud of the accomplishments made with the PoultryTechUganda partnership.   By focusing on demonstration farms, capacity building, knowledge transfer, and sector studies, the partnership has deepened farmer’s understanding of good farming practices, biosecurity measures, and the benefits of using high-quality locally produced DOCs and inputs. From hands-on training to innovative technology, the partnership has empowered farmers with the tools they need to enhance poultry management, and ultimately, uplift their livelihoods.   This video highlights the Management Workshop at Biwooma Demonstration Farm, giving you a glimpse of 'just another day at the office', where practical training meets real-world results. Thanks to the efforts of all the consortium partners, the commitment of ambitious local farmers, and the support of the Netherlands government, we have made a significant social impact.   "Thanks to the PoultryTechUganda project, we’ve significantly improved the quality of our Day-Old Chicks. With the training, our hatchability rates have increased, and farmers are seeing better performance in their flocks. This project has not only boosted our operations but has also restored confidence in locally produced chicks." - wesley rutto - Head Of Sales & Marketing – kukuchic   “The PoultryTechUganda project has transformed how we engage with farmers. Through our demonstration farm and farmer field days, we’ve seen firsthand how introducing modern technologies and best practices can elevate productivity and sustainability. Farmers are now more confident and better equipped to run profitable poultry operations." - Magezi Chris - Managing Director - Champrisa International    This initiative wouldn't be possible without the support of our consortium partners and assistance from the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Uganda and the Netherlands Enterprise Agency .   Partners: Aeres Training Centre International, ASIGMA, AsiimaAgriConcern, Champrisa International, Hendrix Genetics, kukuchic, Nutreco, Royal Pas Reform, Ottevanger Milling Engineers. Technical briefing Lower House | Foreign trade and development cooperation in Vietnam The importance of a resilient and profitable aquaculture sector in Vietnam was highlighted by Raymond Beimers from Invest International during the Technical briefing at the Lower House, focusing on the Combi-Track sustainable aquaculture initiative in the Mekong Delta. As part of this initiative, the ShrimpTechVietnam 2024–2026 partnership aims to facilitate the transition towards profitable net-zero farming, ensuring that the aquaculture sector is future-proof.   The Mekong Delta's aquaculture sector currently stands at a crossroads, grappling with formidable challenges that threaten its long-standing prominence in the global shrimp market. Disease outbreaks have led to alarmingly high mortality rates among shrimp farming enterprises. This biological threat, coupled with the sector's elevated energy consumption, has driven production costs to unsustainable levels.   As Vietnam's shrimp farmers struggle with these mounting expenses, they find themselves increasingly vulnerable in the face of fierce international competition. Countries like Ecuador, with their more cost-effective production methods, are rapidly gaining ground in the global marketplace. This shift in the competitive landscape has far-reaching implications, potentially eroding the economic foundation of countless farming communities across the Mekong Delta.   With ShrimpTechVietnam, a consortium comprising Skretting Vietnam, TipTopp Aquaculture, ShrimpVet, RYNAN Aquaculture, Viqon Water Solutions, Delta Farms, Openasia Group, and Larive International, Dutch and Vietnamese companies are collaborating to offer technical solutions in feed, probiotics, hatchery inputs, technology, and knowledge. This collaboration aims to enhance the profitability and sustainability of shrimp production, ultimately improving farmers' incomes while reducing the environmental impact of shrimp farming.   Would you like to learn more about our collective impact? How will we satisfy our hunger without deteriorating our planet’s resources? By 2050, global demand for animal feed is projected to reach a staggering 2 billion tonnes annually, a 70% increase from the 1.2 billion tonnes in 2018. By harnessing innovative technologies and circular production methods the feed industry can diversify its protein sources while reducing dependence on less sustainable or afar resources. In collaboration with Protix (following their partnership with Tyson Foods), we have created the following article discussing the alternative protein shift and global insect opportunities. Cocoa processing in Côte d’Ivoire | Visiting to boost local value retention   Côte d’Ivoire is the largest producer of cocoa in the world, with the Netherlands as its key trade partner. While the bulk of exports remains in raw cocoa beans, Côte d’Ivoire is also a top global processor, with an ambitious government mission to process all cocoa beans locally. This is to boost in-country value creation and retention.   However, most cocoa processing happens at huge scale, which creates significant barriers — capital, skills, and infrastructure — making it hard for stakeholders like cooperatives to move downstream into value addition. But the CocoaTechD’Ivoire partnership is working hard to change that.   In collaboration with a consortium of value chain experts, we are cooperating with CADESA COOP CA to reduce these barriers. To start, we have developed detailed business plans and financial models with CADESA. Together, we’re creating an enabling environment that supports processing at the cooperative level. Read more about it here: https://lnkd.in/eWpW4yC5   Since 2022, with the support of RVO, we’ve been committed to increasing value retention in Côte d’Ivoire’s cocoa sector. Thanks to the trust, support, and dedication of all our partners, we’re making steady progress towards realizing this mission. Read more about the partnership here: https://lnkd.in/eVm_6nQJ   Special appreciation goes out to our partners at Netherlands Enterprise Agency , particularly Elena Bindels, for their invaluable contributions. The recent visit of RVO and Orange Corners representatives to CADESA marks the next phase in our collaboration.   A perfect demonstration of adding value by working together!   #Cocoa #Netherlands #Partnerships #CôteDIvoire #SustainableDevelopment

Technical briefing Lower House | Foreign trade and development cooperation   Last week, Mr. Abel Neering, program coordinator at RVO for combi-tracks, highlighted the combi-track off-grid solar energy in Nigeria. The impact cluster RenewableTechNigeria, is a key part of this combined approach.   The challenge: In Nigeria, 60% of the population has access to an unreliable energy grid, while rural areas often have no access to electricity at all. This leads to the widespread use of expensive and polluting diesel generators. The country is looking hard for sustainable solutions.   The solution: The Netherlands has a wealth of knowledge and technological solutions in off-grid solar panels, a.o. applicable in the agricultural sector. RenewableTechNigeria brings together Dutch companies, like Dawsongroup energy solutions, Independent Energy BV and Primstar B.V. and local experts like Commercium Africa Limited, Rubitec Nigeria Limited ,SOSAI Renewable Energies Company and Netherlands Enterprise Agency to work on sustainable energy applications.   Why work together? Because we see huge opportunities, combined with major challenges and barriers to entrepreneurship. By joint programming and local customization, we are all stronger and achieve more. 🌱💡   Want to know more about how we make impact together? The Larive International whitepaper | Opportunities in emerging markets: Strategies & solutions Download your copy on our Insights page: https://lnkd.in/eYuY4GnG Globally, a total of 113 million new consumers are expected to join the consumer class around the world in 2024. Their additional spending will total USD 2,300 billion, which is equivalent to the current consumer market of Germany. The following years will see even a slight increase in this trend. By 2030, there will be the equivalent of more than 8 new Germanies with which the world can do business. As developed nations face market saturation, companies are shifting focus to untapped emerging markets. Asia, with 91 million new expected consumers in 2024, dominates this trend, led by China and India. These two giants collectively account for 64 million new consumers (57%). Larive argues that international consumer goods companies have the prospect of capitalizing on the thriving consumer base in emerging markets by tailoring their strategies to the unique dynamics and demands of these markets. However, amidst the promising opportunities, companies inevitably encounter challenges. Take China, for instance, where despite the vast consumer market, some enterprises are contemplating risk mitigation strategies due to cost considerations, ongoing geopolitical tensions, and the intricacies of the domestic real estate landscape. Businesses must carefully weigh the potential benefits stemming from the expansive consumer base against the nuanced risks inherent to specific countries. Herein lies the significance of Larive's services, offering a strategic advantage by shortening the time, lowering the costs and reducing the risks associated with entering, or expanding in, emerging markets. #Consultants #EmergingMarkets #Strategy #BusinessIntelligence
