From Valvo to Philips to NXP to Nexperia, the production process in Lokstedt looks quite different than when our story in Hamburg started in Hamburg 100 years ago. However, one thing has always remained the same: a commitment to quality and efficiency.   Between the years of 1924-1926, 800,000 radio tubes were produced through manual processes. These days, we call upon the powers of automation to roll out over 270 million components a day from the same location.   “In the future, our Hamburg fab will cover the complete range of WBG semiconductors while still being the largest factory for small signal diodes and transistors. Hamburg Fab Update – Partnering with AIXTRON SE for 200mm SiC & GaN Power 🤝   #TeamNexperia is excited to share the first update on our $200 million investment to develop the next generation of wide bandgap semiconductors. We can’t wait to get our hands on Aixtron’s G10 epitaxy solutions to lead the semiconductor industry’s transition to more energy-efficient and sustainable power together. “As we advance our technological capabilities and market presence in high-power semiconductor production, our strategic partnership with AIXTRON is transformative. Integrating the G10 systems will significantly enhance our wide bandgap technology development and production capabilities. We build on AIXTRON's proven uniformity and leverage the additional productivity gains of AIXTRON’s G10 tools to scale up our production efficiently and cost-effectively. With the new G10 tools in our Hamburg facility, we are poised for further advancements in our production capabilities,” - Achim Kempe, COO at Nexperia.   Aixtron is a leading provider of deposition equipment to the semiconductor industry. Combining planar die technology with a state-of-the-art junction termination (JTE) design, our new 650V ultra- and hyperfast recovery rectifiers in D 2 PAK Real-2-Pin (R2P) packaging offer high power density, fast switching times with soft recovery and excellent reliability.   The D 2 PAK package offers the same outline, but we took the innovative step of removing the middle cathode pin. 📢 #TeamNexperia's growing power device portfolio adds new high-current eFuses with superior current limiting accuracy. The NPS3102A and NPS3102B electronic fuses are low-ohmic (17 mΩ), high current (13.5 A), resettable electronic fuses that help to protect downstream loads from exposure to excessive voltages while also protecting power supplies from load faults and large inrush currents. Join Zach as he talks through the technical details and features in his latest Power Up Insights video. These eFuses have been designed for use in various 12V hot-swap applications including enterprise communication and storage equipment found in data centers such as solid-state and hard-disk drives, servers, ethernet switches and routers. Additionally, they can also be used to protect mobile communications infrastructure like 5G radio-heads and industrial automation equipment like programmable logic controllers (PLC). It's been almost a month since we celebrated 100 years of innovation in Hamburg on an unusally sweltering day. From Valvo to Philips, From NXP to Nexperia. From handmade radio tubes to producing over 3,000 semiconductors per second. It was an honor to have #TeamNexperia and distinguished guests join us where our story started in 1924. The $200 million investment to modernize our Hamburg fab is already getting put to good use. We look forward to another 100 years in the Hanseatic city and dong our part to soliify its place as a key European hub for innovation.
