Our Principles of Wonderful are four guiding values that our associates demonstrate in their daily actions to create memorable experiences for our guests. These principles are: Be Caring, Be Extraordinary, Be a Storyteller, and Be Open-Minded. Throughout the week, we organized activities that encouraged our associates to live out these values, both in their interactions with each other and with our guests. Highlights included hotel and city tours to enhance storytelling skills, specialty coffee service, thoughtful pampering gifts, recipe-sharing from diverse cultures, and a grand celebration to conclude the week. In honor of World Animal Day last Friday, we embraced our commitment to nurturing by exploring local initiatives that support animals in need. We discovered the wonderful animal sanctuary 'Het Knaagspoor' van De Dierenbescherming, a sanctuary dedicated to the care of bunnies, guinea pigs, and other small rodents. During our visit, we spent a few hours volunteering, assisting with tasks such as feeding, cleaning, and providing general care for the animals. The small residents of Het Knaagspoor come to the sanctuary through various means—some are found abandoned, while others are surrendered due to challenging circumstances. If you'd like to make a difference, consider volunteering at a local animal sanctuary or exploring adoption to give a loving home to an animal in need. Last week, on World Cleanup Day Official, we went trash fishing in the waters of Rotterdam! Around 8 to 10 million metrics tons of plastic ends up in the ocean each year and by 2050 the total amount of plastic is predicted to outweigh all the fish in the sea. With these concerning statistics we partnered up with iKapitein Boats & Bites to traverse the waters of Delfshaven fishing trash where we could. World Cleanup Day is an important day to reflect on our consumption and recycling habits. We continuously work towards improving our recycling process and reduce waste where we can. Small efforts can add up, and it was great to see our team work together to make an impact. It showed us the scale of the problem, despite just covering a small section of Rotterdam. We’re always looking for ways to make more sustainable choices and reduce waste in our everyday operations. Let’s keep doing what we can to keep Rotterdam clean. Did you know that our room attendants clean about 14 rooms per person per day? This hard work deserves to be recognized so we treated our team to a week full of special moments. From relaxing massages, fun games to gifts and an authentic Ukrainian lunch, creating these moments of joy and was our way of giving back.
