For TONTOTON, it was once again time to DO SUMTHING. In their latest plastic clean-up, a whopping 7,500kg of ocean bound plastic was removed from 3 different heavily polluted sites 😱 Due to the rainy season the tide was higher, washing more plastic ashore. Luckily, the amazing trash collectors of TONTOTON prevented this plastic from ending up in the ocean. 🙏 Big shoutout to our community and these awesum companies supporting this cleanup: Reveal Media, PrimeGlobal - The Association of Advisory and Accounting Firms, Studio2050 #dosumthing #naturerestoration #oceanboundplastic #plasticremoval

Earlier this week, we showed you freshly planted mangroves by Wetlands International. But there is more! We're bringing the restoration site straight to your screen via this 3D model 🌱🌍 What's the purpose of this, you ask? 👀 😎 It gives contributors a cool and immersive way to see how their money turned into nature 🔎 It allows partners to keep an eye on growth- and survival rates of the planted seedlings in a more simple and digital way. Via our platform, we’re making these models available for all our partners in our mission to empower restoration projects to showcase their work and enhance their monitoring. This is but a small step in a big journey, but hey: it’s the sum of things that counts. 👊

Let's kick of the week with some planet positive news 👀 Our friends over at Wetlands International just shared some really awesum results with us: thanks to the support of Google and our community, they have unleashed a true mangrove mania in Kenya, with more than 10,000 mangroves restored! 😍 Through our support the locals have been restoring the most degraded areas and will continue to care for these forests as they mature 🌱 💪 In case you didn’t know, mangroves are truly amazing, as they: ✅ Provide nursery habitat for many commercial fish and shellfish, and thus contribute to the local abundance of seafood. ✅ Provide shelter to a range of wildlife species including birds, deer and honey bees. ✅ Sequester massive amounts of carbon in the trees themselves and the peat surrounding them ✅ Stabilize the coastline by reducing erosion caused by storm surges, currents, waves and tides. ✅ Protect water quality by removing nutrients and pollutants from stormwater runoff before they reach seagrass habitats and coral reefs. ✅ Absorb water during heavy rains and storm surge, reducing the chances of coastal flooding. Big hand of applause to everyone who made this possible 👏👏 #DoSumthing #naturescomebackstory #mangroves #partnershipsforthegoals

A feature that was part of our dreams right from the start. And now it’s here. Yup, you can zoom in on your little patch of the planet and see how it’s making a difference. 🌍💚 We’re kicking things off with showing Soil Heroes’ stunning flower strips 🌸🌿, and soon, you’ll see your impact that Boeren van Amstel is making with its biodiversity strips. And trust us, this is just the start. We’ve got some pretty awesum use cases lined up—stay tuned. 👀 🤓Some nerd-word by our tech for good champion Guido de Rooij: Capturing drone imagery and plotting that onto the map provides an easier way for our partners to submit their proof, and enables us to verify and showcase exactly what is happening in the field. Besides the peace of mind that your donations are actually making a difference, seeing your flower bouquets bloom also puts a huge smile on our faces, and hopefully yours too. It’s time to see what you’re doing. We’re mapping out nature’s comeback—and you’re part of it. Keep doing Sumthing. 👊 #techforgood #dosumthing #productrelease

🌊 🙏 New Batch of Kelp Successfully Outplanted! 7 trays filled with kelp seedlings have been deployed along the coast of Portugal! These seedlings are set to grow into a flourishing kelp forest, capturing CO2 and boosting local biodiversity. 🐡🐟🐠 The innovative technique used, known as Green Gravel, involves cultivating the kelp on gravel stones in a laboratory for six months before outplanting them into their natural habitat. 🌱🪨 🎥 Curious to learn more? Check out the full video featuring Flora on our platform, where she shares insights about the outplanting process and the positive impact of this project. A huge shoutout to Mossy Earth, and special thanks to Volkers BV, Synergie | Business for Good and our community for their support in making this a reality. #DoSumthing #Biodiversity #GenerationRestoration #Kelp #OceanConservation #Sustainability

A little less conversation, a little more action please! 💪 As COP16 kicks off in Cali today global leaders will need to step up to the plate with specific action plans. The Guardian reports that more than 80% of countries haven’t done their homework yet and failed to submit their National Biodiversity Strategies and Action Plans on how to achieve the global 30x30 goals. “It’s time for all countries to step up and turn a landmark global agreement to protect and restore nature into action.” said Crystal Davis, Global Director for the Food, Land and Water Program at the World Resources Institute. Let’s ensure leaders go beyond talking. Let’s #DoSumthing! #GenerationRestoration #Nature #COP16

Together, we made the Netherlands bloom! 🪻🌺 This summer, more than 25000 m2 of biodiversity strips were planted in the Netherlands! Throughout the Hoeksche Waard, these biodiversity strips have been planted as part of a strip-cultivated field. The flower species mix was carefully crafted in collaboration with the University of Amsterdam and Agricultural Nature Management Collective Hoeksche Waard. The flowers have a blooming period from June through September-October - look at the awesome results here and check out the full story on our platform - link below ! 🌾 The flower strips stay intact well into winter, providing both food (from seed heads) and shelter for birds and insects. In landscapes where there are few places for wildlife to overwinter, these biodiversity strips often serve as the only refuge, creating a win-win for ecology and biodiversity year-round. In addition the flowers provide easy access to nectar and pollen, which is essential for attracting lacewings and wasps. These two insect species play a key role in natural pest control by managing crop pests, such as aphids, meaning no insecticides are needed on the adjacent fields.🐝🐦⬛🐣 Awesum results from Soil Heroes Foundation 👏 and thank you to everyone who contributed to reach this amazing result: Dille & Kamille Lowlander Botanical Beers Winclove Probiotics Innovadis BV Eshuis Accountants en Adviseurs Makii, toy design studio Synergie | Business for Good Eco Concept Group - B Corp - Social Enterprise and the rest of our awesum community (you know who you are! 🙋♂️) #DoSumthing #Biodiversity #GenerationRestoration
