We were excited to host a large group of chemistry students that visited Symeres at one of our Netherlands sites hosted by the Royal Netherlands Chemical Society (Koninklijke Nederlandse Chemische Vereniging-KNCV). The students participated in a brainstorming session to discuss activities that could better support young chemists. Then, they were given a tour of the laboratories and a presentation about the work done at Symeres to teach them more about the chemical industry. Thank you to Marieke Beemsterboer and the team for their hard work in organizing and facilitating a great day! We were happy to have the opportunity to connect with these young scientists and look forward to maybe seeing them in the future. #kncv #connections #visits #chemistry
✨ Samenwerken is key! #chemie #lifesciences #vereniging #studievereniging #student #jong #chemicus #moleculen #brainstorm #toekomst Aanwezig: Jong KNCV | Young Royal Netherlands Chemical Society, T.S.V. Danicopan, ceftobiprole, pegulicianine, tovorafenib, mavorixafor, sofpironium bromide, deuruxolitinib, vorasidenib, and seladelpar have these three things in common: · These drugs were approved by the FDA this year. · These drugs have an important impact on society. · They all have chiral centers. For many years, over 50% of approved 𝐝𝐫𝐮𝐠𝐬 have 𝐜𝐡𝐢𝐫𝐚𝐥 𝐜𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐬. Creating a single enantiomer is often one of the most challenging steps in organic synthesis. At Symeres, we thrive on such challenges — and are recognized as world-class experts in the field of chirality. Take a look at a snapshot of our introductory presentation, which opens the door to how we can help produce chiral molecules for you. 𝐈𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐝? On Friday, we celebrated some of our colleagues with the longest 'half-life' of our company - 25th work anniversaries with Symeres. We thank you all kindly for all of your hard work, dedication and invaluable contributions to the organization throughout the years. It was a true joy to celebrate such a milestone with you all - Peter Molenveld, Ruben Leenders, Sander Schrievers, sjoerd aertssen, Eddy Damen and Dirk Vandenput. The day was filled with laughter and nostalgia as we enjoyed the ‘frietkraam’ (fry truck) and reminisced over the many fond memories shared among colleagues. We are deeply grateful for our seasoned scientists who have been part of Symeres from the beginning. Your continued commitment shapes who we are today, along with many of our other longstanding colleagues. #workanniversary #longhalflife #seasoned #frietkraam

𝐓𝐨𝐧 𝐕𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐬 𝐀𝐰𝐚𝐫𝐝 2024: Symeres is excited to share that we celebrated our internal annually awarded Ton Vries award. This award is named after one of our chemists that greatly contributed to the foundations that made Symeres what it is today. The competition was quite fierce this year with teams in the US and Europe that submitted their very best work to be considered for this award. The criteria was focused on projects that were collaborative between different sites and interdisciplinary teams within Symeres, along with consideration for the overall technical difficulty, as well as success of the project itself. With so many outstanding chemistry projects and brilliant work showcased, choosing a winner was no easy task! The winner of the Ton Vries 2024 award went to the team of Maris Vilums and our finalist teams had presentations given by Bart Saes, Erik de Heuvel, Paul Werkhoven, Vishnu Damalanka and Sander van Assema. Furthermore, we appreciate the participation of Tommi Meulemans and Jim van Wiltenburg too. Congratulations to all those who were involved that made these projects a rousing success! This innovative chemistry exemplifies the heart of Symeres, and we owe these remarkable scientific achievements to the collaboration and expertise of our talented scientists.

𝗖𝘂𝗿𝗶𝗼𝘂𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝗸𝗻𝗼𝘄 𝗵𝗼𝘄 𝗺𝗶𝗥𝗡𝗔 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗹𝗶𝗽𝗶𝗱𝘀 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗻𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗲𝗱? The Nobel Prize in Medicine was recently awarded to Victor Ambros and Gary Ruvkun for their discovery of microRNA (miRNA), crucial for regulating genetic activity. miRNAs are small RNA molecules that bind to messenger RNA (mRNA), inhibiting protein synthesis or degradation. Even though all cells in the body contain identical DNA, it is through this mechanism that there are diverse cell types. miRNAs are also being explored as cancer therapies, functioning as tumor suppressors. Research is focused on safely delivering miRNA or mRNA using lipid nanoparticles, which enhance stability, intracellular delivery, better targeting and dose reduction. At Symeres, in conjunction with Organix, we specialize in: 1) Experience with MC3, a gold standard in ionizable lipids. 2) Production of cationic lipids, lipopeptides, lipoids, biodegradable lipids, arachidonyl lipids, and GalNAc derivatives. 3) Lipid scale-up capabilities, including GMP-compliant processes and the production of microspheres. Symeres has been supporting the global pharma and biotech industry with the synthesis and (ultra)purification of these novel lipids, such as those used in lipid nanoparticles used to deliver RNA-based therapeutics. #NobelPrize #Chemistry #𝗺𝗶𝗥𝗡𝗔 #Lipids #Symeres #CRO Learn more here: https://lnkd.in/eDbWcSrr
