This week, AF Offshore Decom was proud to attend, present, and sponsor the Ship Recycling Lab in Lisbon, where we joined forces with industry leaders and advocates dedicated to promoting sustainable and ethical ship recycling practices. In collaboration with organisations like The NGO Shipbreaking Platform, we are working to raise awareness and improve global standards for end-of-life ship recycling, ensuring a safer, more environmentally responsible future for ship decommissioning. Our participation reflects our commitment to fostering innovation, accountability, and traceability across the industry to address the critical challenges of ship recycling. We are delighted to share that we have successfully completed another step in our multi-platform decommissioning campaign. The recent jacket lift was carried out with exceptional precision, representing a key milestone in one of our offshore decommissioning initiatives. This achievement highlights the dedication and expertise of the wider team and we look forward to advancing the next part of the project with the same rigorous standards. #AFOffshoreDecom #AFOD #Decomissioning #Offshore

A great article by Norwegian Petroleum Museum showcasing some of the decommissioning projects our team has accomplished since the opening of Vats 19 years ago. Read the full article: https://lnkd.in/dB9JB7_t
On this date in 2005, 18 August, the AF Decom yard in Vats was opened by petroleum and energy minister Torhild Widvey. It was established in the same place where Norwegian Contractors had mated its Condeep concrete platforms. Scrapping old platforms from the Greater Ekofisk Area (GEA) has created new jobs in both Norway and continental Europe since the mid-2000s. Redundant GEA installations were removed to shore every single summer season from 2005 to 2021 in a total number of 14 installations Read more: https://lnkd.in/dB9JB7_t #oilandgas #northsea #industriminne #industrialheritage #norskoljemuseum #petroleummuseum #oilmuseum #phillipspetroleum #conocophillips #ekofisk #decommissioning #dismantling #recycling

AF Offshore Decom completes engineering and preparation for removal of the bp Andrew drilling derrick and articulated arm. AF Offshore Decom mobilised a multi-discipline team to the bp Andrew installation in the central North Sea to prepare the drilling derrick for removal by Heerema Marine Contractors. The team included AF Offshore Decom, CAN Group rope access technicians, CUT UK diamond wire cutting experts, and Hydratight for bolting and machining. The scope of work involved removing all mechanical elements necessary to enable the safe deployment of rigging and lifting by Hereema Marine Contractors’ Sleipnir SSCV. A large volume of steelwork, redundant equipment, and stairways/walkways were removed prior to the installation of four main lift points on the derrick structure and additional rigging on the articulated services arm. There was a short timeline from contract award to offshore execution, with engineering completed between our Aberdeen and Oslo team. The derrick was then removed by HMC and transported to AF Environmental Base Vats where our team will now safely dismantle and recycle the structure. Over the last 10 years, AF Offshore Decom has performed the engineering, preparation for removal, dismantling and recycling for several drill derricks in the North Sea including those from the Brae, Brent and Dunlin Fields. Our expertise and commitment to excellence on this project will drive the success of another North Sea decommissioning project. Clearing up the past. Building for the future. #AFOffshoreDecom #Decommissioning #Decom #NorthSea #Offshore #Recycling
