  • The Apollo project is moving fast forward 🌊!   In 2026 we will convert our supply vessel Viking Energy to operate with an #ammonia combustion engine. This week we visited the crew onboard to give an update on the project and the scope of the conversion. Safety remains our highest priority, and much time was spent on the comprehensive safety measures that will be implemented. We also got valuable questions and input that will assist us in our further work.   After the conversion the vessel will operate for Equinor in the North Sea, as the first vessel of its kind in commercial operation in the world.  Apollo Ammonia Project CINEA - European Climate, Infrastructure and Environment Executive Agency

  • 🚢 𝗖𝘂𝘁𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗙𝘂𝗲𝗹 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝘀𝘂𝗺𝗽𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗼𝗻 𝗩𝗶𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗟𝗮𝗱𝘆 𝗯𝘆 𝟮𝟬𝟬 𝗧𝗼𝗻𝘀 The shipping industry’s emission targets are ambitious—and achieving them requires more than just newbuilds. That’s why Eidesvik and Aker BP ASA launched Project Retrofit, a collaboration dedicated to reducing emissions from existing supply vessels. In 2024, our energy efficiency upgrades on Viking Lady delivered real results: Performance measurements taken before and after the upgrades demonstrated an annual reduction in fuel consumption by nearly 200 tons of LNG. How? ✅ Advanced control and regulation solutions for vessel heating and cooling systems.  ✅ A new control solution to assist crews in stabilizing sailing speed and power consumption.  ✅ Optimization of the oil filtration system, significantly reducing power requirements. The upgrades involve minimal retrofitting and offer short payback periods - proving that small changes can drive big fuel savings and emissions cuts. - Aker BP is committed to decarbonizing our business. Collaboration with strategic partners is essential in this effort. The measures implemented on Viking Lady, developed in collaboration with Eidesvik, demonstrate that this upgrade, together with several other initiatives, adds up to significant emission reductions on existing fleets, says Marie Lindmark Sandøy, Decarbonisation Lead in Logistics. -At Eidesvik, innovation is in our DNA. What we have achieved on Viking Lady is yet another example of how our continuous focus on technology development drives smarter, greener, and more efficient solutions for the maritime industry. By developing new solutions, we stay ahead of the curve and deliver real value to our partners and the environment, says Helga Cotgrove, CEO of Eidesvik Offshore.
