Aiming for Perfection! 🌟 We’re putting our separator to the test at Clara Venture Labs these days. These stress-tests aim to predict performance under various conditions, enhancing our understanding and quantifying the impact of factors like flow rate, pressure, temperature, and different substances (e.g., CO, CO2, H2O), and how different conditions may affect the flux through the palladium membrane.   Taking place at the Energy House (maritime testing on land) outside beautiful Bergen, Norway, these tests leverage the advanced fuel cell module for system testing at the Sustainable Energy Norwegian Catapult Centre. This center develops tomorrow's maritime solutions using sustainable technology and fuels, preparing fuel cell solutions for future demonstrations on Odfjell chemical tank ship.   Hydrogen Mem-Tech's technology is cruical in creating compact power systems for demanding applications, such as ships or offshore installations. Our solutions promise efficient fuel use, clean power production, and the co-production of hydrogen and power, along with direct CO₂ capture from natural gas or biogas.   We’re thrilled that our technology is proving robust under demanding conditions, showing even better performance and broader application relevance than expected. Plus, we’re delivering exceptionally high hydrogen purity. This success makes us incredibly optimistic about the future! Exciting trip to the Hydrogen Technology Expo North America in Houston! 🚀 Our colleagues Jørgen Svare and Hanne Martinussen represented Hydrogen Mem-Tech at this truly inspiring event recently. The expo was bigger than last year but maintained a great atmosphere, full of enthusiastic and supportive people eager to push the hydrogen industry forward. At the same time, they could enjoy some enthusiastic and supportive fans of soccer, as Colombia played their Copa America-game in Houston. ⚽️ Hanne was particularly proud to drive on the busy highways of Houstons on her own 😅 We made numerous valuable connections that we expect will lead to successful projects. Houston is rapidly becoming a hub for hydrogen, much like its historical role in oil and gas. We can't wait to be back in September for #Gastech. Being part of this energy evolution is crucial for us. Let’s keep driving innovation and collaboration in hydrogen! 💪 #hydrogentech

  Stepping Up for Fun and Fitness! 🏃♀️🏃🏻🏃♂️ Who knew competition could turn office warriors into trailblazers? This May-June, our team at Hydrogen Mem-Tech joined the epic quest to conquer ten peaks in Trondheim, thanks to the Trondheim Turistforening's (Tourist Association) challenge! Our office building spiced things up by making it a house-wide competition. Companies are battling it out for the highest score, with prizes and a medal ceremony for the victors. Unfortunately, that wasn’t us this year… But thanks to Cybernetica AS for organizing the whole ting! Even the most dedicated desk-dwellers are now outdoor adventurers, navigating trails and scaling new heights. Let the games (and fun) continue! 🏞️👟🏆   #Health #Milestones

Our work takes us from the macroscale to the nanometer scale! 🔬👩🏻🔬 Hydrogen Mem-Tech is fortunate to have access to the excellent facilities of NTNU NanoLab at Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU). We use the lab in our research and development and as a part of our quality control.   Our colleague Marie Døvre Strømsheims time at Nanolab consists of, among other things, using a profilometer (optical and stylus) to check the thickness of our membranes and scanning electron microscopy to investigate the membrane morphology. We choose to use Nanolab because of the high standards of the facilities and the possibilities it provides in developing our product – the hydrogen separation technology. Equally important is the available expertise and support in the various characterization techniques and overall scientific environment conducive towards learning new ways to investigate our membranes. We gratefully acknowledge the staff at Nanolab for training and support, and valuable discussions about sample characterization. Nanolab is part of a national infrastructure of cleanrooms called “The Norwegian Infrastructure for Micro- and Nanofabrication” (NorFab). The Research Council of Norway (Norges forskningsråd) is acknowledged for the support to the Norwegian Micro- and Nano-Fabrication Facility, NorFab. 👍

We’re excited to share the first article from the PALLAMONIA project, co-authored by our colleague Marie Døvre Strømsheim! 🌟 PALLAMONIA is an innovation project supported by the Research council of Norway (Norges forskningsråd). Dr. Didrik Småbråten and Dr. Thijs Peters have conducted groundbreaking research on the impact of ammonia (NH3) on palladium-silver (Pd-Ag) membranes. Their work uses density functional theory (DFT) to explore how ammonia (NH3) affects hydrogen (H2) permeability, specifically focusing on co-adsorption, adsorbate interactions, and segregation effects. Essentially how will NH3 affect the membrane’s ability to let hydrogen through, what happens when both H2 and NH3 is adsorbed on the surface, the interactions between them, and how might NH3 affect the composition of Pd and Ag in the surface? Understanding these mechanisms is crucial for optimizing our technology in hydrogen recovery from ammonia (NH3).
