Elise Johansen, Tonje Hagen Geiran, and Mads K. Haugse from our ESG team have written a newsletter on the Deforestation Regulation (2023/1115/EU), including the recent postponements of obligations to 30 December 2025. Read more about how to prepare for these upcoming changes: https://lnkd.in/dbQJRCg7 This regulation aims to reduce deforestation, forest degradation, greenhouse gas emissions, and global biodiversity loss by imposing documentation and due diligence requirements on relevant entities. The regulation requires companies to ensure that products such as cattle, cocoa, coffee, oil palm, rubber, soy, and wood, or products containing these, are deforestation-free and lawfully produced. Larger companies have until 30 December 2025 to comply, and micro and small enterprises until 30 June 2026. Businesses across various industries, including food retail, cosmetics, pharmaceuticals, and transport, should use this period to establish compliance systems and routines. #EURegulation #Sustainability #Compliance #Deforestation #EnvironmentalLaw #LegalUpdate
