Last week, Waikato Young Engineers hosted a site visit to the landmark mixed-use development at One Cook Street, Hamilton East. BCD Group Engineers and the Engas Developments team shared insights on the development, engineering design and construction process to group of over 40 attendees. It was a fantastic opportunity for all to learn about the development process and see some complex engineering and construction underway. Over the summer, I had the incredible opportunity to work as a Geotechnical Engineering Intern at BCD Group Limited. This experience has been an invaluable learning journey, providing me with both technical knowledge and professional development that will shape my future in civil engineering. Throughout my internship, I’ve had the chance to develop hands-on skills such as geotechnical field investigations, undertaking site inspections, working with QGIS systems, and preparing Geotechnical assessment reports. Beyond the technical skills, I’ve also had the opportunity to be a part of an amazing team and a great work culture. A huge thank you to BCD Group Ltd for an amazing summer and for creating such a supporting and engaging work environment!

Over the past two summers, I’ve had the pleasure of interning as a structural engineer at BCD Group Limited in Hamilton. During this time, I contributed to various design projects, assisted with site inspections, and even participated in social sport events. These placements have been an incredibly valuable learning experience, enhancing both my technical and professional skills. The positive team culture, strong support, and commitment to continuous improvement have significantly accelerated my development. Thank you BCD Group Limited for these amazing experiences!

This week I finished my first summer internship with BCD Group Limited. Over the summer I worked with both the Structural and Fire engineering teams on a variety of projects. Gaining experience in lots of different tasks including structural calculations, fire report writing and site observation. I was also able to develop professional skills by attending meetings and presentations and communicating with clients. Outside of the office, I had the opportunity to be a part of BCD’s golf and football teams. Thanks to BCD for an awesome summer, I learned a lot and really enjoyed the company culture and the people I worked with.

I’ve had the pleasure of spending the past two summers with BCD Group Limited as a structural engineering intern and it’s been an incredible experience! From working on a variety of design projects to gaining hands-on experience out on site I’ve learned so much about the industry - and the supportive, engaging environment at BCD has made it even better. Huge thank you to the team at BCD, and my fellow interns for an awesome summer! I’m greatful for the opportunities & experiences and excited for the road ahead.

Welcome to our 2025 Graduates! We were thrilled to welcome our 2025 BCD Graduates at the beginning of February. Their first two days were jammed-packed with activities, including meet-and-greets, morning tea with our Strategic Leadership Team, and an onboarding presentation. Not to mention a Dragon Boat race at Lake Rotoroa, and site visits to Waikato Steel Fabricators and One Cook Street.   A special thanks to Waikato Dragon Boating Association, Waikato Steel Fabricators and Engas Developments.
