Congratulations to TBIG’s Jacob Bray and Rebecca Featherstone, and the Fonterra South Bloc project teams, who have been named as finalists for two Property Council New Zealand People in Property Awards 2024. An outstanding achievement! 🎉 The team have been named in both the Excellence in Sustainability category, and the Best Team Award at the upcoming Central Awards. Fonterra's South Bloc fitout project revitalised 1,800m² of their Waikato workplace, marking the first phase of a larger initiative to unify Fonterra’s Hamilton offices under a cohesive brand strategy. Inspired by the region’s natural beauty, the design features local materials, creating a space that fosters innovation and collaboration for over 200 team members while promoting a strong sense of identity and belonging. Sustainability extended beyond design to construction, where the project team achieved an 88.15% waste diversion rate, far surpassing the initial 70% target. Nominated project teams Beca, Chow:Hill Architects, Designwell, Fonterra, Marshall Day Acoustics, Maltbys Ltd, Livingstone Building NZ, On Fire. Good luck to all the finalists! We look forward to celebrating with you at the awards ceremony on 24 October. Papamoa College recently celebrated the opening of their new Technology block ‘Te Paroa’ with a blessing. This is an important milestone in this project as we reflect on what has been achieved so far, before moving on to complete the final two blocks.
It wasnt only our tamariki that were up early for the first day of term as we blessed the new Technology block - Te Paroa (which reflects harakeke and a harakeke mill located not far away historically) for Papamoa College this morning. I love this part of a project, seeing years of work come together and ready to make an impact on generations to come. This is by far my favourite block built todate and not because of my bias trade background, its truely exceptional. An amazing team effort from Brianna Craw and the MoE, Kathryn Sheehan and Gary Townsend from Maltbys Ltd and the fantastic site team of Phil Elms and Ryan Scott from STEAD Construction. We move onto our last 2 blocks now and have the end in sight. Its been a massive shift from Day 1 in 2017 but the results make it worth it. Thanks again to WSP in New Zealand - i get to mix my role up with some active Project Management which keeps me grounded and fills my cup. #WeAreWSP #Education #ForTheRangatahi

It’s absolutely fantastic to see the first four homes in the Housing Innovation Project achieve Practical Completion. The units look great and will be a real asset to the Invercargill City Council and Southland Community. The project was a success being delivered on time, within budget and we enjoyed working with the ICC, McCulloch Architects and ABL throughout conception to completion as QS & Engineer to the Contract. It has been a privilege to work on this community housing project with Dwell Housing Trust. We are looking forward to the final project outcome in October.
Not just any morning tea on a building site. It was a moment to celebrate a successful team and a successful build project and to acknowledge a shared vision, relationships, and mutual respect. Last week the Dwell team came together with our key build partners on our latest Kilbirnie build project of 10 homes for a “roof shout” morning tea. The project is a month ahead of programme, tracking under budget to date, the roof is on and its all looking amazing. We also acknowledged our supporters who are part of the team, particularly a private philanthropic trust who supported this build by buying the site of this development. Our ongoing relationship means we now have a tradition of them providing morning tea when the roof is on. We can’t wait for October when these homes will be completed and the whanau who need a warm, secure, affordable home, in an amazing location, can move in. Yet again Dwell is showing we are a great partner for private philanthropy, private sector businesses and government. The Ministry of Education New Zealand and Rototuna High Schools recently held an event to bless the new Junior High building, completing the Rototuna Stage 2 Project which also includes a Senior High building, large outdoor walkways, new carparking and new a Whare. “The school is thrilled with the addition of their new spaces. The seamless integration of the old and new, facilitated by the completion of the walkways, promises enhanced connectivity and good movement across all buildings.” Brianna Craw, Delivery Team Manager, Te Puna Hanganga, Matihiko. With the completion of all three buildings, the school now boasts an impressive 31 additional teaching spaces, catering to a fast growing student body, with a build roll of 2,800. This expansion spans an impressive 3,684m². Led by Gary Townsend, the Maltbys team have been a part of this project since 2013 when Stage 1 of the brand new school was initially conceptualised. Stage 2 then kicked off in early 2020 with Kathryn Sheehan as Quantity Surveyor and Gary as Engineer to Contract. The project team also included Hawkins as construction partners, MOAA Architects as lead Architects and Frequency as Project Managers. #MinistryofEducation #RototunaHighSchools #QuantitySurveryor

To commemorate the opening of the new Maltbys Auckland office, we hosted a launch event on Tuesday night. The occasion provided invaluable networking opportunities, allowing attendees to explore our new office space located at Level 7 / 51 Shortland St, Auckland for the first time. Despite the rainy weather, we seamlessly transitioned the event indoors, while eagerly anticipating the opportunity to host future gatherings on our new outdoor deck. We extend our gratitude to everyone who attended the event, contributing to its success. If you're interested in visiting our new office, please don't hesitate to get in touch.
