Last week we partnered with our good friends at The Trade Desk to put on the ‘Retail Data for Campaign Success’ conference. Retail media industry leaders came together for a morning of innovation, collaboration and ground-breaking announcements. We unveiled a game-changing data and audience partnership with The Trade Desk that will offer unprecedented 1PD opportunities for brands, agencies, and advertisers in a way not seen in ANZ before. Insightful sessions from Rory McDonald (General Manager, Market Media) and Isabella Spragg (Director, Data Partnerships, The Trade Desk – ANZ) got us underway, reiterating both the ability to push the envelope in brand execution and also the importance of utilising retail media networks 1P data to gain a deeper understanding of audiences for brands and agencies. Our panel discussion with Nikola McCarthy (Samsung), Jason Waddell (The Trade Desk), Miri Kang (Spark Foundry) and our own Blaine Hudson shed light on the state of retail media today from a variety of viewpoints whilst taking a glance into the future and the emergence of programmatic within retail media. Industry legend Colin Lewis's keynote presentation 'The Case for Creativity' got us thinking as he took us through the steps to creating an effective campaign, and the importance of using our own imagination and emotions. “Dull ads are simply less effective”, in short. Finally, the fireside chat with Alex Lawson (Market Media), Emily Isle (CDO, @McCready Bale Media) and James Bayes (VP, TTD – ANZ) covered topics including the importance of programmatic within retail media, the opportunities for non-endemics and when data is good and when it is bad. Some key takeaways that resonated with us: - The future of retail media is programmatic and data-driven, with a strong focus on digital-first approaches and cross-channel applications. - Retail Media Networks offer a unique competitive advantage, leveraging deep customer understanding to deliver highly effective strategies. - The TTD x Market Media data partnership breaks barriers by allowing brands, agencies and non-endemics access to previously unavailable data and audience targeting in a self-service platform. We're grateful to all our attendees, speakers, and partners who made this event a resounding success. Special thanks to Brooke Rau, our Head of Agency and our incredible MC for the day, as well as our partners at TTD Alice Molineaux, Jason Waddell and Lauren Simpson for all their help organising this! Stay tuned for more innovations and opportunities as we continue to push the boundaries of what’s possible in retail media. When it comes to disruption, retail media might take the cake – it's a fast growing space transforming right before our eyes. Retail media is a surprisingly effective, little understood part of the marketing landscape. As traditional TV advertising continues to fragment, and retailers invest in IRL experience, marketers are beginning to understand the value that retail media brings. On this episode of The CMO Show we take a deep dive into the world of screens and supermarkets, joined by Paul Brooks, General Manager of Coles 360, and Alex Lawson, Head of Strategy & Media at Market Media. Retail Media, just digital and Ecommerce right? Wrong!! In our latest work with the awesome Mattel, Inc. We've turned our Albany Warehouse store pink and rebranded to The Dreamhouse in honour of Barbie's 65th birthday! In an execution that really demonstrates the power of the relationship that you get with retail media, not only have we turned the store pink, but 10 further stores across the country have instore activations and all our stores feature Barbie creative on our in store screens. Online, our website has Barbie creative running and nearly everyone at The Warehouse Group has got involved in someway, all the way to store staff getting special pink Barbie shirts! We have loved bringing this project to life this project and injecting fun and joy into our stores via a true cultural icon! Special mention to Rory McDonald, Karla Watts, Jacob Bowman-Colligan, Nick Lapwood, Dylan Cambridge, Bevan Smith Carrie Fairley, Jessica Headifen, Lily Bloomfield and Rachel Schimanski from TWG and Andrew Spence from Mattel for their hard work in pulling all of this together, a real team effort! If you're around the Albany region, check it out - otherwise see if you have one of our 10 activation stores near you! And if you're curious to see what you could do with your brand in our stores, get in touch with the team today! #retailmedia #retail #barbie #thewarehouse #mattel #birthday #activation #instore

The backtrack by Google on the depracation of 3P Cookies sent shockwaves through the industry, but will it really make that much difference? Emarketer thinks not, suggesting that 87% of users will be third party cookieless regardless. The power of the first party cookie will only increase over time and who have the best first party cookies and data? Retailers and retail media networks. As us how we can help. #retailmedia #retail #media #cookie #marketmedia

"With retail media expected to lead ad spend growth over the coming years, and with new, diverse players emerging in ad selling – from Uber to Chase – we are once again seeing the value of first party data in targeting the right person with the right message at the right time. Such data, combined with new AI enhancements, will constitute the fabric of the advertising industry for the next decade and beyond," James McDonald, WARC. WARC have just released a new projection around Global Ad Spend growth and the role of Retail Media within it. It's clear that Retail Media is helping drive the global recovery of ad spends and the ability to finally have usable 1PD data that flows through to an actual, measurable, sale is key. #retail #retailmedia #adspend #warc #marketmedia #growth #recovery #media #advertising
WARC forecasts global ad spend to jump 10.5% in 2024; Australia, APAC weakest, up 2% | Mi3

It's the end of another week of interesting articles and insight from the retail media world, so here are a few of our top recommendations if you have a spare 5 minutes... Andrew Lipsman released another banger (he hasn't had a dud yet!) via Media, Ads + Commerce looking at the effectiveness and potential of instore media in light of the recent Walmart decision to start accepting non-endemic brands in store, we concur! https://lnkd.in/gQeqEeEJ We also really enjoyed this dive into the strategy that Hanes, the staple clothing manufacturer, employs across the Amazon ad suite, thanks to Christy Ramroop for posting the link! https://lnkd.in/gCQ25ZAb And what week is complete without an engaging article from our good friend Colin Lewis? If you haven't seen his recent Marketplace series and especially Episode 5 where he links them to Retail Media, get along and have a read! https://lnkd.in/gJmsCbkn Enjoy your weekends everyone! #retailmedia #retail #marketmedia #mediaadscommerce #colinlewis #andrewlipsman #christyramroop #marketmedia #reading #inspiration

Great creative + Great Placements = Great Impact 🔥 We're loving the current Panasonic campaign running in store and online with our Noel Leeming stores right now and think they look especially impactful on our TV Walls! Did you know that the campaign was created with AI? Every one of our TV Walls in Noel Leeming is ad ready and able to run 4K content, controlled remotely. Got something you think would look amazing on these screens? Bring it. Nice work Grace Ward (Fox) and the team at Panasonic New Zealand Ltd. #retail #retailmedia #instore #noelleeming #marketmedia
