About us

The University of Auckland Investment Club is a student run investment society founded in 2009. It is now one of the largest clubs at the university with over 400 members and the largest investment related club in New Zealand. Students at all levels of understanding are invited to build their investment knowledge through student led tutorials, guest speaking events, and competitions, in a supportive environment. Our Aim is to improve the practical financial education of our members, while developing networks with other like-minded students and those within the finance industry.

  • We are excited to announce that UAIC's 2024 Annual General Meeting will be held on Tuesday 24th September! Our AGM provides a recap of the year to our members and gives you a chance to have your say on what UAIC will look like in 2025! This will be held at 6pm in OGGB Case Room 2 (260-057). Key activities for the night include: • Co-Presidents' review for the year • Treasurer's financial report for 2024 • Election of the 2025 UAIC Co-Presidents Food will be provided and each Club member will receive one vote.   • Are you interested in a career in private equity? Do you want to learn more about how private equity firms create returns and invest in businesses? The Allegro Funds National Private Equity Case Competition is the perfect opportunity for you! Students form groups of 3-4 to pitch a recommendation to an investment committee about a potential buyout. Students from all degrees and majors are encouraged to participate. Please note that each team requires at least 1 female competitor, and a maximum of 2 final-year students. Prizes include a cash prize of $2,000 for the winning team and impressive competitors will be invited to interview for an internship at Allegro Funds. The best pre-penultimate team will receive a coffee chat with an Allegro Funds Deal team member.   • Following on from Investing 101, UAIC is so excited to bring you our annual Investing 102 event with Raymond Webb! Come along to the level 1 foyer of OGGB (260-101 - foyer) on Thursday 15th August at 6pm to expand your financial knowledge and gain an in-depth overview of value investing from Raymond Webb. The event has been designed for beginners, so no previous investing knowledge is required! However, there will be examples and case studies provided for members who already have some investing knowledge. There will also be new, practical questions relevant to the 2024 markets covered, such as how to manage stocks that have risen significantly. Additionally, this session aims to give graduating students a clear plan for setting up their finances as they start full-time work.
