The Pride Pledge is a values-based commitment that organisations and individuals can take to demonstrate their dedication to the safety, visibility and inclusion of the rainbow members of their community and workforce, both internally and externally. We currently represent approximately 250 businesses across a range of industries including state sector, hospitality, finance, insurance, tourism, construction, health & more. We’ve run over 70 Rainbow Awareness Training workshops throughout the country in since 2020, both in person and online, working with close to 3,000 participants. And since the launch of our Rainbow Diversity and Inclusion Stocktake, we have 17 organisations in our ACTIVE community of practice, meeting monthly. We work with you 365 days of the year. We are not an accreditation service but rather a supporting partner – working consistently with our subscribing organisations to incrementally improve their commitment to diversity. Rainbow inclusion is not a destination, but a continuous journey. The work is never done Some of our services include policy consultation, networking, newsletters, resources, training (in person and online options), The Stocktake and visibility campaigns.

Saying you are a SAFE SPACE is not enough - in fact it can be DANGEROUS. Read on... A safe space requires planning, staff engagement and commitment in all aspects of a venue or operation, supported by training and clear signs, and working with talent and crew who are all part of the safety plan. With the recent attack in Auckland's claimed 'gay' bar, this is a reminder that we can't take safety for granted for our Queer communities and a call to anyone hosting Queer events or saying their venue is safe to stop, reflect and review their current plans, policies and practices. We developed this guide many years ago and it's FREE so check it out - it applies to any Queer event or space. We can provide advice, support, training and policy recommendations too. Now is GOOD!! What does Rainbow Inclusive Tourism and China have in common?! Read on...Martin King 🏳️🌈got serious (see his face)! Today we got serious about inclusive tourism at the Tourism Industry Aotearoa Conference in Auckland with Martin King sharing the stage with Emily Steel from Be. Lab to share our experiences with an intersectional lens. Thanks to the team at TIA for inviting Pride Pledge🏳️🌈 to part of the day. The news is that the LGBT+ tourism market is bigger than the Chinese tourism market globally and the LGBT+ population is growing versus the Chinese population predicted to start to shrink! That's how the session started - the facts and predictions for the future matter. The other big newsflash for the audience is that the LGBT_+ market is super diverse and rainbow travelers come from every corner of the world. With 70 countries still with homophobic laws and only 36 recognising same gender marriages, the tourism opportunities for liberal, safe and legally protected countries is massive - this is where we come in. Aotearoa, New Zealand is uniquely positioned to welcome rainbow travelers and create amazing safe, welcoming and inclusive experiences yet we do not have an explicit strategy, focus or understanding. Many tourism businesses have not looked at markets with a Diversity and Inclusion lens, just a market lens. LGBT+ tourists are more loyal, stay longer and spend more - it's a no-brainer for all and it creates ripples for other diverse groups. So welcome to the future - and the opportunity to dial up inclusive tourism. It starts with you and Pride Pledge can support you along the way. New data on violence against LGBTQ+ people makes ‘grim reading’ – and undermines NZ’s inclusive reputation. Read on... Data is vital to inform policy and it challenges myths and assumptions about safety of our rainbow communities' that do not 'suit' the story many want us to believe and thus provide funding, dedicated services and interventions. For the first time in New Zealand, violence against members of the LGBTQ+ community has been quantified. The data reveals higher levels of crime and violence than against other New Zealanders. LAUNCHING 11 NOVEMBER - JOIN US! The Gender Affirmation Policy Register is the first site of it’s kind that has been identified in New Zealand or globally and we go live on 11 November. This could be a world first innovation for rainbow inclusion practice and creates a new standard for organisations to step up to. The register will create a website for organisations to list themselves as having progressive policies. This enables Trans and Gender Diverse employees to ‘check them out’ and consider organisations with the supports they need prior to applying for employment. The register is free for Pride Pledge GOLD organisations as an additional value added service! We are excited to be holding our last in person meetings of the year in Auckland, Wellington, Christchurch and Queenstown as part of the launch.
