For day toru of Te Wiki o Te Reo Māori, we are going to share a Whakataukī as this is another way we utilise te reo Māori in our mahi. Whakataukī are proverbs that the person who first said it, is not known, in comparison to a Whakatauākī, where the person who first said it is known. Todays whakataukī is “He kōpikopiko te ara ki te whaioranga” Recovery doesn’t go in a straight line To access more whakataukī like the one above, you can visit Te Reo Hapai here https://lnkd.in/dui4Hmv2

To preserve te reo Māori at Te Pou, we integrate kupu into our everyday vocabulary, especially when referring to key terms that relate to our mahi. For example, “Ngā māuiui kai” is the te reo term for eating disorders. You can access more terms like this on Te Reo Hāpai, a Māori language glossary for use in the mental health, addiction and disability sectors. This week we are celebrating Te Wiki o Te Reo Māori from 14 to 21 o Hepetema 2024. This week, we are going to be sharing some of the ways we use te reo Māori in our day-to-day mahi. On the 14 of September 1972 - Te Petihana Reo Māori – the Māori language petition - was presented on the steps of Parliament. The theme for Te Wiki o Te Reo Māori this year is ‘Ake ake ake – A forever language’, representing the resilience, adaptability and endurance of te reo Māori. Kia kaha te reo Māori! MHA lived experience wānanga coming to a town near you! The consumer, peer support and lived experience (CPSLE) team at Te Pou is thrilled to announce that we're coming to a town near you! We can't wait to engage with CPSLE workers in wānanga. The focus will be on sharing together both the potential of how you can incorporate CSPLE values and competencies into your daily mahi and hearing and learning from how you already do. This unique workshop will be facilitated by the lived experience team from Te Pou. The next workshop will be held in Kirikiriroa Hamilton on 25 September. Other events in more locations will be announced shortly. Our goal is to connect with a diverse range of people within your community who are part of the CSPLE workforce. Register quickly to ensure as many people and organisations as possible benefit from this opportunity. Places are limited. We look forward to meeting you and working together to enhance our collective impact. You can register for this event on the Te Pou website here: https://lnkd.in/gfnw7Nkg

It's a day to remember those we've lost, support those who struggle, and remind ourselves of the importance of mental health. Start the conversation today. Every chat, no matter how small, builds a more supportive and understanding society. Together, we can make a difference and prioritise suicide prevention, ensuring everyone gets the help they need. This morning Te Pou Lived Experience Project Lead Gina Giordani gave a guest lecture to graduate health science students at AUT. Her topic was “Working with the mātau ā-wheako CPSLE workforce toward meaningful change." Gina shared the work of the lived experience team at Te Pou and did a deep dive into the topic of co-design, based on a guide that she completed last year. This was part of a block course that had a number of lived experience guest speakers sharing their mātauranga. The CPSLE co-design guide is available on the Te Pou website here: https://lnkd.in/duRveMwZ The photo shows Amanda Bradley, Te Pou National Manager, Lived Experience (third from left), and Gina Giordani (third from right) with the AUT teaching staff.
