DCA Architects have created an inventive and engaging space for tamariki in the Te Whatu Ora Lakes Children’s ward. The warmth and texture of Melteca Classic Oak, used throughout the ward from the reception desk to the playroom, is the perfect supporting element to the beautiful artworks by Donovan Bixley. When creating a warm and inviting workspace for Stride's head office in Auckland, designers 4WoRK looked to timber-effect finishes from Laminex. In the reception area, the Stride logo is backlit on a fabric panel that floats above a Melteca Aged Walnut feature wall. "The Melteca is cut into battens and installed with a 10mm wide negative detail and edged with black edge tape to reinforce shadow lines and depth," says Charmaine. We’re thrilled to share that our very own Phoebe Mitch represented our team at COP29, one of the world’s most impactful climate conferences, where 72,000 attendees from nearly 200 countries came together to shape the future of global climate action. Over two dynamic weeks, Phoebe immersed herself in critical conversations about the built environment, spending time at the GlobalABC (Global Alliance for Buildings and Construction) pavilion and connecting with leaders at the GCCA (Global Cement and Concrete Association) pavilion. Her insights from these sessions reflect her dedication to advancing sustainable solutions in the construction and building industries. Phoebe returned inspired by standout speakers like Peter Bakker, who urged us to manage carbon like financial assets, and Antonio Guterres, who highlighted the growing momentum in renewable investments. She also brought back a renewed focus on simplifying climate conversations—breaking down barriers and empowering more people to engage in these critical discussions.
