Thankfully Eman and her four beautiful children are being cared for through a UNICEF-supported clinic in Deir al-Balah. But it shouldn’t be like this.  She, and many more new mums and their kids, need respite and a life free of violence and uncertainty. They need an immediate ceasefire.  Link below to read about our life-saving support for the children of Gaza, their mums and whānau. https://lnkd.in/g7Cj6-RF ©UNICEF Palestine/ 2024/ Eyad El Baba

“UNICEF Aotearoa acknowledges the profound trauma that this report sheds light on and recognises the bravery of survivors in sharing their experiences. We join with Mana Mokopuna - Children and Young People's Commission in calling on the Government to act urgently on the recommendations and ensure children and their rights are always protected

Today was an important day in Aotearoa New Zealand, a day that has been a long time coming, as the Royal Commission of Inquiry into Historical Abuse in State Care and in the Care of Faith-based Institutions' landmark report 'Whanaketia – through pain and trauma, from darkness to light' was tabled in Parliament. Chief Children’s Commissioner Dr Claire Achmad says the decades of abuse and pain experienced by children and young people while in the care of the State and faith-based institutions is a national shame, and that this report must galvanise action that leads to real change. 6-year-old Fatima’s story of displacement is tragically familiar to millions of children throughout Sudan whose lives have been put on hold. We’ll continue to make sure every displaced child can feel safe, learn, and just be kids – wherever they find themselves, wherever home is.    If we want to protect their futures, we need an immediate ceasefire.     Support our mahi through the Greatest Need appeal in the link below. https://lnkd.in/gXV54PuX

Guadalcanal Province is home to over 150 000 people. It’s the biggest island province of Solomon Islands and is known for its sprawling and untamed rainforest. Up until recently, for most of the province’s tamariki and rangatahi enrolling and staying in school has been challenging because of the lack of access to water and sanitation facilities. For the last 4 years, UNICEF together with @mfat_pacific has been addressing these barriers head-on by working with local partners and government to rollout integrated and culturally relevant water and sanitation programs and infrastructure. Our goal? To make sure every child has access to a dignified and supported school environment, to be able to reach their full potential. And the kids are loving it! Head to the link below to read more about our mahi in Solomon Islands and other countries in the Pacific. https://lnkd.in/gQUK89sQ © UNICEF Aotearoa © UNICEF/UNI412969/Neil Nuia - WHO

All over the world we work with dedicated organizations and businesses who are committed to making the world a better place for kids.  One such corporate partner is Louis Vuitton who in 2016, launched the #LVforUNICEF campaign. Since then the partnership has raised more than $22 million. This diverse and creative range of activations has involved the company's powerful network of customers, employees and partners. In 2023, the #LVforUNICEF partnership contributed among other programs to provide vital access to:      • safe water in Lebanon   • healthcare and more specifically vaccines in Türkiye  • primary healthcare for children in Syria  • water, health and nutrition in refugee camps in Jordan     The contributions are made through the sales of the Silver Lockit, launched every year.    This year’s new collection was created by Millie Bobby Brown, who took the issue of education as an emphasis for her designs. $100 from the bracelet and $200 from the necklace, both featuring a locket, go towards UNICEF's work in education.  The commitment of our corporate partners, like Louis Vuitton, is one of the very impactful ways that we make good on our promise of “for every child, everywhere”.       #MAKEAPROMISE  #LVforUNICEF  #foreverychild

How do you practice proper hygiene behaviour in your school? In Nikierere Primary School in Kiribati, a WASH club led by students from Years 1-6 is responsible for ensuring proper hygiene behaviours and encouraging their family to do the same. With support from UNICEF Aotearoa and New Zealand Ministry of Foreign Affairs & Trade, UNICEF is ensuring improved access to Water, Sanitation and Hygiene in outer island primary schools in Kiribati.
