💡 Honorable Mention: TAYAP 🏆 2024 LIT Design Awards TAYAP is a mountain retreat in Negros Occidental, an island in the Philippines, designed as a rustic yet flexible space to spark ideas for land development. Built from the owner's collection of hardwood and antique doors and windows, this temporary, movable structure embodies sustainability and adaptability. The lighting design seamlessly integrates interior and exterior spaces, enhancing the natural surroundings. Minimal uplighting allows the stars to remain visible, while low-wattage stake-mounted lights softly illuminate the boulders in front of the cottage, blending harmoniously with the environment. Inside, dimmable luminaires highlight the wooden façade and antique doors. A center table with a striking plant is spotlighted, while native masks on the walls are subtly illuminated. Above, decorative pendants cast mesmerizing shadows, adding depth and intrigue. Outdoors, the wooden columns are gently lit, creating a textured interplay of light and shadow on the ground, preserving a tranquil night sky experience. Thank you to the client, Architect Tonyboy Legaspi, and our CSLDI team for this collaboration. 📸 Photos by Ed Simon
