Wonderful to see some well-earned recognition of leadership of an Asian Public Administrator by a state chapter of ICMA, the Washington City Manager’s Association! I-NAPA is fortunate to have Joe on the Board, and he was recently elected to the VP of Membership position. (We hope to see our members at our annual meeting at the ICMA conference in Pittsburgh where we’ll ratify the results!) He’s been an active contributor at the national level of the organization for years, and has in recent months rallied a tremendous effort in Washington State to provide a place for public administrators of Asian and Pacific Islander heritage, and others, belong. You’re an inspiration, Joseph Franco, MPA !

Did you know that ICMA recently announced a Student Debt Relief Initiative in Partnership with Savi? Through this partnership, ICMA - International City/County Management Association will join National Association of Counties in promoting Savi software to help local government employees qualify for student debt relief and obtain savings. One consistent concern plaguing recent graduates and early and mid-career professionals is earning enough money to live comfortably while paying back their sometimes crushing student loans. The good news is that it is likely many local government employees qualify for the student debt forgiveness programs that have been making headlines recently. I love it when a plan comes together 😍 I recently met Monica Davis at a Cal-ICMA event and she casually mentions that I might know/have worked with her mom who is none other than the retired City of Long Beach City Clerk Poonam Davis. It was the best meet-cute and I just knew I had to have them on a ‘Growing Up City Hall’ GovLove Podcast episode. I’m so grateful to have captured this mother/daughter #localgov duo so give it a listen!
