Site Reliability Engineer

We are looking for our client, a respected IT & Consulting Company focused on IT, Business Intelligence, Analytics, Data Warehousing, and Reporting, to hire a skilled Site Reliability Engineer (SRE).

The team operates under Agile methodologies, employing a unique implementation adapted from Spotify's model. As part of the SRE chapter, you will collaborate with 5 colleagues, serving 9 squads in 2 different tribes, focusing on enhancing system reliability, scalability, and performance.

What You Would Do & Responsibilities:

• Design, implement, and maintain automation scripts and tools for deployment, configuration, and infrastructure management to streamline operations.
• Develop and manage monitoring solutions to detect and respond to system anomalies and performance issues, leading incident response efforts to minimize downtime and optimize system performance.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to conduct capacity planning exercises, ensuring that the infrastructure can scale to meet growing demands.
• Champion the use of Infrastructure as Code principles to manage and version control infrastructure configurations, ensuring consistency and repeatability.
• Work on continuous improvement initiatives to enhance system reliability, reduce downtime, and optimize performance through best practices.
• Collaborate closely with software development and DevOps teams to understand application architecture, provide guidance on reliability aspects, and contribute to designing scalable and resilient systems.

Requirements:

Hard Skills:

• Proficiency in scripting languages (e.g., Python, Bash, PowerShell) and automation tools.
• Strong knowledge of cloud platforms (e.g., Azure) and container orchestration (e.g., OpenShift).
• Proven experience as a Site Reliability Engineer or similar role.
• Solid understanding of networking principles.
• Familiarity with version control systems (e.g., Git) and CI/CD pipelines.
• Experience with monitoring tools (e.g., Prometheus, ELK, Zabbix).

Soft Skills:

• Ability to effectively interface with technical and non-technical staff at all organizational levels.
• Excellent problem-solving/analytical skills and knowledge of analytical tools.
• Positive attitude and orientation towards solving problems.
• Ability to give constructive feedback and openness to receive it as well.
• Ability to work within the team and act as a mentor.
• Ability to work under strict deadlines.

Nice to know:

• Knowledge of ITIL and Agile concepts.
• Knowledge of Web Services and Services Oriented Architecture is desirable.
• Some experience with Java and/or .Net, web components, and others is a plus.
• Experience with configuring and troubleshooting WebServers.
