At this week's Africa Internet Summit in #Mauritius, Smart Africa Digital Academy - SADA will host three important events namely: 1. A peer learning session focused on harmonizing policies to upgrade Domain Name System (DNS) infrastructure. 2. A session designed to introduce emerging leaders to the global internet ecosystem. 3. During the African Peering and Interconnection Forum (AfPIF) held in #Kinshasa on 22 August 2024, #SADA hosted a peer learning session focused on Internet Exchange (IX) policies, infrastructure resilience, and regional governance. The session drew 760 participants, both in-person and online. They delved into the role of policies in driving the growth of Internet Exchange Points and data centers, supporting the expansion of Internet Service Providers and community networks across #Africa, and harmonizing regulations to foster a secure, inclusive, and sustainable #digital transformation. #smartafrica #sada #internet #isps #AfPIF #datacenters —— Lors du Forum africain sur le peering et l'interconnexion (AfPIF) qui s'est tenu à #Kinshasa le 22 août 2024, #SADA a organisé une session d'apprentissage par les pairs axée sur les politiques de points d'échange Internet (IX), la résilience de l'infrastructure et la gouvernance régionale. This week, Smart Africa Digital Academy collaborated with Cenfri, William and Flora Hewlett Foundation and the Smart Africa Trust Alliance (SATA) to host a two-day workshop on “Navigating Open Finance in Emerging Markets.” Participants, including financial sector regulators and associations, Mobile Money Operators, data protection commissioners explored the feasibility and benefits of open finance in an African context, as well how a practical and actionable implementation plan with focus on data governance could be developed. #openfinance #datagovernance #capacitybuilding #smartafrica Marie Ange Umuhoza Patrick Toroitich

Abigail Tibuah Yeboah, representing the Minister of Ministry of Communications and Digitalisation and Data Protection Commission Chairperson, welcomed the delegates and provided updates on #Ghana's national data strategy. During yesterday's Regional Peer Learning Exchange on #DataStrategies between #Benin and #Ghana, SADA Project Manager Nadia Raharinirina underscored the significance of #data and emphasized the importance of sharing lessons to leverage its potential. “At Smart Africa, we believe that data is a cornerstone of the Fourth Industrial Revolution. It has the potential to transform societies, enhance governance, and improve the quality of life for our citizens.
