Africa Investment Forum Welcomes BADEA as New Partner Ahead of the December Market Days in Rabat, #Morocco BADEA - Arab Bank for Economic Development in Africa has joined the Africa Investment Forum platform as a founding partner, marking a new chapter in fostering large-scale investments into Africa. The announcement was made during a breakfast meeting on the sidelines of the IMF and World Bank Annual Meetings in Washington, DC, led by Dr Akinwumi Adesina, President of African Development Bank Group and Chairperson of the Africa Investment Forum. The meeting also saw the adoption of a new strategic framework to guide the platform's activities. In welcoming the new partner, Adesina said: “Since 2018, BADEA has been a steadfast supporter of the Africa Investment Forum, consistently contributing to the growth and success of this platform.” BADEA Group President Dr. Sidi Ould Tah said the main shareholders of his bank had been working on a new mechanism to support investment flows to Africa. The group has sovereign funds under management with assets in the trillions of dollars, of which they had pledged to channel a part for Africa’s infrastructure needs. “The role of BADEA is to catalyse resources for Africa. BADEA will work with all the member countries of AIF to make this pledge a reality,” Tah said.             The addition of BADEA brings the platform's founding partners to nine:  the African Development Bank, African Export-Import Bank (Afreximbank), Africa Finance Corporation, Africa50 Infrastructure Investment Platform, Development Bank of Southern Africa (DBSA), European Investment Bank (EIB), Islamic Development Bank (IsDB), and Trade and Development Bank Group - TDB Group. The President of BADEA availed to the opportunity to congratulate H.E. Alassane OUATTARA for his Government’s macroeconomic performance, successful resource mobilization on the international financial market and the improvement of the sovereign rating of Côte d'Ivoire, a reflection of confidence by rating agencies and investors.

At the invitation of H.E João Manuel Gonçalves Lourenço, President of the Republic of Angola, H.E. Dr. Sidi Ould TAH, President of the Arab Bank for Economic Development in Africa visited Luanda and discussed about the means and ways to boost the cooperation between Angola and BADEA on investment and trade financing. Energy, education and health infrastructures came as top priorities for the public sector. BADEA is also prompt to mobilize sister institutions from the Arab Coordination Group. On the private sector , BADEA’s President discussed with a wide range of stakeholders about finding opportunities for agricultural value chains, special economic zones, banking sector and trade.
