Smarter Monitoring, Stronger Infrastructure Monitoring should be more than just collecting data—it should provide real insight. Since power cables are the backbone of energy transmission, we need to ensure their reliability in an increasingly complex energy landscape. Stefan Persson, Director Cable Monitoring Solutions at NKT Service & Installation, has put some thoughts into how a holistic approach to cable monitoring can help prevent costly failures and optimise performance. How can this help you secure your cable assets? Read the full article here:

Why we keep pushing the necessity of inspection surveys Subsea cables are constantly exposed to the risk of damage by external forces of various kinds. To improve a cable's availability, it is important to keep track of its latest physical condition, investigate associated risks, and mitigate them well in advance – before they potentially materialise into an unexpected breakdown. In his latest article, our director Cable Monitoring Solutions, Stefan Persson, gives further insights into the matter, discusses the rising risk potentials and our solution to cable owners' needs. We are interested in your thoughts: What were the main highlights of his article for you?
We know that critical subsea cable infrastructure can be disrupted by external impact. To lower the risk of it happening, we in NKT recommend conducting regular marine inspection surveys of the cables. I have written more about it in this article. #NKT #CableService #CableMonitoring

Benefiting from a great cooperation or how to fix a cable in less than 20 days Thanks to a great cooperation between NKT and BritNed, we were able to successfully complete an onshore repair of the BritNed power cable system within less than 20 days, ensuring the minimum of downtime. What happened? After a power outage, a fault in the 250 km long BritNed interconnector, connecting the power grids of Great Britain and the Netherlands, was localised onshore in the Netherlands. Thanks to excellent communication and collaboration between the affected parties, NKT was able to undertake the cut and seal operation and the jointing of the broken cable as well as provide essential calculations and technical support to BritNed, ensuring a quick return to service of the 450 kV high-voltage DC power cable. The importance of preparation "We were able to mobilise quickly after being notified of the fault, deploying 12 jointers and site managers from Sweden. The efficient mobilization and quick repair were enabled by a service level agreement and great cooperation with the involved parties," says Axel Barnekow Widmark, Executive Vice President of NKT Service & Installation. NKT's ongoing service level agreement with BritNed ensured that all necessary cable was in stock and thus enabled quick mobilisation and reduced downtime of the interconnector, minimizing disruption. #NKT #Cableservice #Cableinstallation #Preparedness
