The adoption of AI in the manufacturing industry has faced challenges, including lengthy and costly development processes, difficulties in data collection, and a shortage of tools needed for training and effectively utilising AI models. To tackle these issues, the Sectoral AI Centre of Excellence for Manufacturing (AIMfg) has been established as part of Singapore’s National AI strategy 2.0. Jointly developed by A*STAR - Agency for Science, Technology and Research and the Ministry of Trade and Industry (Singapore), this AI centre brings together key partners in the advanced manufacturing ecosystem to transform technology into practical AI solutions across five key areas: Industrial Automation, Predictive Maintenance, Operational Optimisation, Quality Assurance, and Product Design. A heartfelt thank you to The Coca-Cola Company, Rolls-Royce, Singapore Aero Engine Services Private Limited (SAESL), and Halliburton for your continued trust and support on this AI journey. We also look forward to collaborating with technology providers (Siemens !McKinsey & Company, Microsoft, Amazon Web Services (AWS), NI (National Instruments), DataRobot, Fujitsu, AIQURIS - A TUV SUD Venture) through the AI Experience Nexus - an interactive and immersive space housed in ARTC dedicated to showcasing and demonstrating AI solutions in manufacturing. ARTC is proud to host the Sectoral AI Centre of Excellence (AIMfg) at our facilities to celebrate the collective pursuit of AI innovation in manufacturing last Friday (27th September 2024). As a collaborative initiative developed by the Ministry of Trade and Industry (Singapore) and A*STAR - Agency for Science, Technology and Research, AIMfg is part of Singapore’s efforts under the National AI Strategy 2.0 to build a thriving industry ecosystem that creates significant value through AI and enhances capabilities across the AI technology stack. By bringing together AI, engineering, and manufacturing expertise from research, industry, and government, AIMfg will co-develop robust and scalable AI solutions tailored for the manufacturing sector across five key areas: quality assurance, operations optimization, predictive maintenance, product and component design, and industrial automation. Through collaboration with AIMfg, companies in Singapore will be able to develop higher-value products, customise AI solutions for production, and accelerate their operational and business transformation. We’re excited about the future of AI in manufacturing and look forward to collaborating with government agencies, institutes of higher learning, trade associations and chambers, technology providers, and end users to foster new innovations in manufacturing! 🌟 Read here to find out more about the launch: https://shorturl.at/bPvgw #AI #Manufacturing #Innovation #ARTC #Singapore #Collaboration #AIMfg #CentreofExcellence #AIforManufacturing
Deputy Prime Minister, Minister for Trade & Industry and Chairman of the Monetary Authority of Singapore, Republic of Singapore
Congratulations to A*STAR - Agency for Science, Technology and Research on the launch of the AI Centre of Excellence (CoE) for Manufacturing (AIMfg). AI has the potential to transform our businesses, by enhancing their operational efficiency, creating new products or services, and unlocking new business opportunities. The AIMfg aims to convene stakeholders across industry, research and the start-up ecosystem to develop AI-enabled solutions that will address use cases in the manufacturing sector. It will employ an ecosystem approach to provide companies with access to key resources for AI innovation, including technical consultancies, partnerships with tech solution providers such as AWS, Microsoft and Siemens to support companies in accelerating their AI development and deployment efforts, and access to common AI models. I am pleased to hear that 13 companies have come onboard the AIMfg, and I encourage more manufacturing companies to participate in the AIMfg so that they can have a strong start to their AI transformation journey.
