As a child, Clin Assoc Prof Peter Lu was inspired by his father, a general surgeon, to pursue a medical career in general surgery. A posting to an Ear, Nose and Throat (ENT) role during his National Service altered the focus of his specialisation and the rest, as they say, is history. Today, the otorhinolaryngology senior consultant and Chief Risk Officer of CGH is known by many to be an exemplary clinician, a zealous educator, and an advocate for patient safety. “Clin Assoc Prof Lu has strongly influenced my own character development. While he has been instrumental in teaching me surgical skills and developing my clinical judgement, his biggest influence has been teaching me how people should be treated and how people matter — especially when you are in a position of leadership — as well as leading by example… My mentor helped me to see the bigger picture, and gave me the conviction that we are all working together for the greater good,” shares Dr Ian Loh, Head and Senior Consultant, Otorhinolaryngology. 📃🖋️As part of our ongoing efforts to care for our community, Changi General Hospital (CGH) inked a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with SMRT Corporation Ltd to enhance the occupational health and safety of SMRT employees earlier this month. The MoU exchange was witnessed by Minister for Transport Mr Hong Tat Chee, SingHealth Group CEO Prof Wai Hoe NG and SMRT Chairman Mr Seah Moon Ming during the Public Transport Workers' Appreciation celebrations earlier this month. Through this collaboration, our CGH care team will leverage our occupational medicine expertise and work closely with SMRT on a range of initiatives to support employee health and well-being in the workplace. The MoU marks the continuation of a successful pilot project with SMRT last year, where our occupational medicine specialists redesigned maintenance workstations for SMRT staff in Bishan Depot to help them work more comfortably.
