The Japanese Garden in Jurong Lake Gardens, set to reopen in September, will feature Singapore's largest water lily collection, with over 150 water lily varieties sourced from around the world, and gardens that promote water conservation. One key highlight is the smart water management system, funded by Micron Technology’s S$1 million donation, that helps clean and restore the water in the Water Lily Garden and the larger Japanese Garden. The new Sunken Garden will also feature a cenote-inspired water feature that will harvest and recycle rainwater. Sharing about how this will create a microclimate of high humidity and low temperatures, National Parks Board (NParks) added that “with its naturally cooling environment, the Sunken Garden will also offer visitors a refreshing respite.” In promoting community stewardship, NParks collaborated with community stakeholders to co-design the Floral Garden plots, involving over 150 residents, leaders, students, and volunteers to enhance the Japanese Garden by planting trees and shrubs. In 2023, and for the fifth consecutive year, suicide has remained the leading cause of death amongst youths.   This is one of the key motivations why Geneco SG hopes to spark more conversations around the nation’s mental well-being with ‘here. sunrise X sunset’ initiative, as I recently shed more light on the campaign in my interview with Glenn van Zutphen (Founder, CEO) and Neil Humphreys from MONEY FM 89.3.   We are also grateful to have Sherman Zhuo with us, with whom we have collaborated for the song ‘endless shine’ to amplify awareness for the initiative, to not only share on his creative process for the song, but also his personal episodes on mental wellness.   Written as a letter to himself, ‘endless shine’ is composed based on Sherman’s inspiration from rising above his own experiences, and we are very encouraged that it has resonated with many people.   Garnering over 600,000 streams on Youtube and Spotify so far, ‘endless shine’ is surging towards our goal of 1 million streams, where we will donate $10,000 to Beyond the Label for them to drive ahead with their programmes to destigmatise mental health.   To listen to the full interview, you can do so here: https://lnkd.in/gswFiNTq   Thank you Glenn and Neil for giving us a platform to share our voice on a less-discussed topic.   Together, let’s change the world around us by changing the world within us. #Brand #Communications #Marketing #CSR #HereSunriseXSunset

Taiwanese electric motorcycle maker, Gogoro, will launch its first battery swapping station at a Shell service station in August, allowing riders to quickly swap out batteries and stay mobile, instead of waiting for hours to charge up. To gain insights into sustainable mobility solutions in Singapore, Cycle & Carriage Singapore partnered with foodpanda to test Gogoro's Smartscooters and battery-swapping platform under special permission granted by the Land Transport Authority (LTA) Singapore. Delivery riders participating in the trial averaged 2,200 km per month, increasing the usual mileage by swapping batteries up to twice daily—with each full charge enabling them to travel up to 100km. Three different Gogoro electric motorcycles will be launched by the end of 2024, available for purchase or lease. Meanwhile, other companies like MO Batteries and Evotion Labs are also exploring battery swapping technology in Singapore, with Evotion Labs planning to expand its network by 2024. To reduce carbon emissions across healthcare institutions, Singapore has launched the new CHI - Centre for Healthcare Innovation Sustainability Academy which will offer training courses and foster collaboration between public and private healthcare sectors to develop green solutions. Associate Professor Hon Tym Wong, Clinical Director at CHI shared that the centre has goals of “reducing energy and water use by 10 percent from the baselines by 2030, and reducing waste disposed of by 30 percent by then.” These will act as standard for healthcare teams for a larger industry-wide impact. To mitigate impact on the environment, hospitals like the National University Hospital has already started implementing initiatives, such as reducing usage of anaesthetic gases with high carbon footprint, and witnessing success with significant emission reductions by about 98 percent over the past three years. For other institutions seeking to achieve similar results, the new academy will provide their expertise and guidance. Music can change the world because it can change people. At some point in our lives, I am sure many of us have that one song played on repeat when we feel melancholic. For me, one of the songs was ‘No Surprises’ by Radiohead. Beyond just an earworm, people can build emotional resilience, cope with mental conditions, and improve their mental health by listening to music as mentioned at the National University of Singapore session ‘A Conversation on Emotional Resilience – Finding Emotional Well-Being Through Music’. And this is what we focus on to bring Geneco SG’s initiative ‘here.sunriseXsunset’ alive. As the ‘happiest’ nation in Asia that even has ‘Happiness’ in our National Pledge, there is no better time than this 59th National Day to put mental wellness of Singaporeans on the centre stage. In collaboration with Sherman Zhuo, Warner Music SG X Cross Ratio Entertainment artist, we are heartened to debut ‘endless shine’ – a song that hopes to inspire all of us to let music be the heartbeat of our lives, and #PowerTheChange from within. We are also immensely encouraged to have the partnership of Beyond the Label, a nationwide mental health anti-stigma movement by National Council of Social Service (NCSS) and TOUCH Community Services for this initiative. ‘endless shine’ is my new go-to song – not one of sadness, but one of hope. And I hope it will be one for you too.
