🌿 Did You Know? 🌿 Not only do we advocate for #wellness and healthier living through lifestyle farming, but Grobrix’s system also reflects sustainability at every step. We grow our plants in upcycled coconut coir grow plugs instead of soil — coconut coir is a natural by-product that would otherwise go to waste, supporting our commitment to reducing environmental impact. Vertical farming also achieves over 90% water savings compared to traditional land-based agriculture, making it an efficient, sustainable choice for urban environments. 🌍 If you're interested to learn more about our work or how Grobrix can contribute to your green goals, we'd love to hear from you. #Sustainability #UrbanFarming #Grobrix #WaterSavings #Wellness 🔗 Source: https://lnkd.in/gBVRYUMr

In collaboration with SINGAPORE CHEFS' ASSOCIATION, we celebrated the 20th anniversary of International Chefs Day at the Nestlé Professional Customer Engagement Centre (CEC) on 19 October with a local and global community of chefs. It was a rare gathering of the world’s most esteemed chefs; with Thomas Gugler (President of Worldchefs) and Vanessa Jaurique-Marquis, CEC AAC (Chairperson of the Worldchefs International Chefs Day Committee), as well as several of the Worldchefs Board also gracing the occasion. This year’s theme, ‘Growing Great Chefs,’ welcomes young enthusiasts into the wonderful world of cooking, teaching them not only how to prepare delicious dishes but also how to make informed food choices. We are proud to be hosting this event in collaboration with Worldchefs - World Association of Chefs' Societies, SINGAPORE CHEFS' ASSOCIATION and Grobrix in honouring the hard work, dedication and creativity of chefs who continuously push the boundaries of gastronomy.

🌍 World Food Day: Rethinking Food Systems for a Sustainable Future 🌱 On World Food Day, we reflect on the theme "Right to Foods for a Better Life and a Better Future." While the world produces enough food, challenges like climate change, accessibility, and affordability remain. In Singapore, where 90% of food is imported, understanding the concept of "food miles"—which measures the journey food takes from its place of production to the point of purchase —is key to reducing our environmental impact. Urban farming and local food sourcing can reduce the distance food travels. This has all sorts of benefits, including lowering greenhouse gas emissions, improving food security, and ensuring fresher, healthier produce reaches more people. Bringing people closer to the source of their food is a key part of the Grobrix mission. We believe education is key to shifting perceptions around our current food system and championing the benefits of locally grown produce. Initiatives such as harvest days and farm-to-table salad workshops spark conversations about where our food comes from, and often inspire people to take steps towards a more sustainable lifestyle. Reducing food miles isn’t just about cutting emissions—it’s about creating a resilient and inclusive food system where everyone can access fresh, nutritious, and sustainable food. Hands-On Urban Farming Workshop with Grobrix! 🌱 As part of Care: World Week, our Green Guardians and Care: World Ambassadors got the opportunity to learn from Craig D'Souza, the head of farming at Grobrix. Craig led an insightful workshop, teaching our learners about the hydroponic wall and the science behind urban farming. The learners planted basil seeds and explored the germination process, understanding how to manage the nutrients and the pumping system that helps the plants thrive. These experiences give our learners hands-on exposure to sustainable farming and innovative ways to make a positive impact on our school’s environment. Excitingly, the learners will now take over managing the hydroponic wall, with plans to harvest the basil and create homemade pesto to sell at our Christmas Fair! A huge thank you to Craig and Grobrix for inspiring our learners. #NexusSG #NexusCareWorld #ResponsibleNexus
