✨ Strengthening Semiconductor Education through Partnership! ✨ The Institute of Microelectronics hosted an IME x Institute of Technical Education (ITE) Partnership Celebration, marking a significant milestone in our commitment to nurturing the next generation of semiconductor talent. This event marked the successful completion of our first batch of ITE internships, along with the ongoing contributions from the second batch of students. Additionally, it highlights IME's participation in the ITE Work-Study Diploma (WSDip) programme and Develop a Curriculum (DACUM) industry consultation session, showcasing the strong partnership between IME and ITE in developing future semiconductor talent. During the celebration, our Executive Director, Mr. Terence Gan, delivered opening remarks, followed by an inspiring address from ITE Chairman, Mr. Andrew Chong. Our ITE interns (Jun Xiang Low, Adam Chiang Jing Yang, and Tan When Hou) shared their internship journey, guided a cleanroom visit, and conducted demonstrations on MDRA equipment operation. We take pride in our strong partnership with ITE and look forward to future collaborations that enhance education and innovation in the semiconductor field. Last week, the Institute of Microelectronics (IME) welcomed lecturers from the Polytechnics (Ngee Ann Polytechnic, Nanyang Polytechnic, Temasek Polytechnic, Republic Polytechnic) and ITE (ITE College Central) for our ‘Microelectronics Teaching Staff Attachment’ Programme hosted by IME. The lecturers gained first-hand experience in our cleanrooms and labs, enhancing their knowledge in the fast-evolving field of microelectronics. The programme also opened doors to new research collaborations and future opportunities for their students, such as internships at IME. We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to all the lecturers for joining the Teaching Staff Attachment Programme. Our Institute of Microelectronics (IME) scientists and engineers attended the 2024 IEEE Ultrasonics, Ferroelectrics, and Frequency Control Joint Symposium (UFFC-JS), where they presented 24 papers showcasing key advancements in the MEMS field. IME's Dr. Yao Zhu, delivered an invited talk on ‘Advancing RF Acoustic Resonators Through ScAlN Thin Film Technology,’ highlighting novel breakthroughs that are set to redefine RF performance in next-gen devices and underscoring IME’s leadership in MEMS research. This conference provided a valuable platform for sharing our latest research, engaging with international experts, and fostering collaborations that will continue to drive innovation in MEMS. We are excited to announce that our Principal Scientist from IME's Photonics & Sensors department, Dr Doris Ng, will be speaking at the MEMS & Sensors Executive Congress (MSEC) 2024. Dr Doris Ng will present on "Gas Sensors for a Sustainable Society," where she will explore current and emerging trends in gas sensor technologies. Her talk will cover how innovative gas sensors can address key sustainability challenges, including monitoring greenhouse gas emissions and ensuring the safety of sustainable fuels like hydrogen and ammonia. Dr Doris Ng will also introduce some of IME’s advanced prototypes, including a high-resolution H2 purity sensor and an H2 leakage sensor with exceptional selectivity and safety features.
