#ICYMI: Singapore’s #Budget2025 contained several workforce transformation measures. Here are three things that businesses need to know: 1️⃣ More help for companies to upgrade their workforce: S$400m has been set aside for the new Enterprise Workforce Transformation Package. It comprises a new SkillsFuture Workforce Development Grant with a simplified application process, enhanced funding support of up to 70% for job redesign activities, and the provision of SkillsFuture Enterprise Credits to offset out-of-pocket expenses on workforce transformation programmes. 2️⃣ Empowering workers to build their career health: New initiatives include Continuing Education and Training programmes and higher training allowances for workers at different career stages. EDB has collaborated with industry partners and the Singapore Institute of Technology on an Electrical and Electronics Engineering degree for in-employment diploma holders in manufacturing roles. 3️⃣ Expanding leadership development opportunities for Singaporeans: The capacity for overseas postings and leadership milestone programmes offered by the government will be expanded from 400 to 700 participants a year. To support aspiring Singaporean leaders, the Singapore Leaders Network (SGLN) will also be enhanced to provide overseas transition support, as well as to scale up networking events, mentorship opportunities and the flagship SGLN Fellowship programme. Over 8 in 10 companies rank #innovation among their top three priorities but few (only 3%) are able to embark on #corporateventuring to unlock business value from new ideas. #GenerativeAI can be a game-changer in this, according to a new report by BCG X developed in partnership with EDB. Companies can accelerate the venture building process by using Gen AI tools and technologies to generate venture ideas, test concepts and validate opportunities. For Salesforce CEO and co-founder Marc Benioff, #Singapore is “the place to be” for global companies that want to be part of Asia’s growth story. Salesforce set up its first office outside the US in Singapore over two decades ago, he says, knowing that the country would be a key #hub for #SoutheastAsia. What makes the region exciting? The opportunities for growth for companies of all sizes, allowing them to deliver “incredible new capabilities” across organisations, he adds. Salesforce is investing US$1b in Singapore over the next five years - watch our interview with Marc at NBCUniversal and CNBC International’s CONVERGE LIVE summit. #YourBusinessNeedsSG

For tech companies like SAP, Singapore is a choice location to build innovative products for the region and beyond. Singapore’s strong #talent pool and robust R&D ecosystem are among the key reasons, says the company’s Senior Vice President, Head of Global SAP Labs Network, Prof. Dr. Clas Neumann. It’s also why the German tech giant has continuously deepened its presence here, establishing SAP Labs in 2022. Today, SAP Labs, which drives the development of #AI features across SAP’s entire enterprise product suite, has tripled its headcount to 420 – including 200 AI engineers. Many of them are homegrown talent from local universities including National University of Singapore (NUS) and Nanyang Technological University Singapore. To further drive the development of AI solutions for the region and beyond, SAP Labs will collaborate with NUS on postgraduate training for nine AI researchers, supported by EDB’s Industrial Postgraduate Programme (IPP). The IPP helps leading companies nurture local talent to drive R&D that benefits their business and the broader industry. Corporates in Singapore are continuing to expand their AI activities here.
