Marka camp, also known as Schneller camp was established in Jordan as a temporary solution to host Palestinian refugees. Today, over 68,000 people still call it home. As part of our #HomeEquals campaign, we're taking steps to address the housing challenges faced by families in Marka Camp. Meet Zulfia Bekirovski, a man with a broad smile despite the narrow walls of his home in Shuto Orizari, North Macedonia. Born into a large family, Zulfia has faced many challenges, from living with twenty people in a single room to rebuilding his life after his home was demolished. Today, he shares a small house with his wife, son, daughter-in-law, and granddaughter Medina. Through the #HomeEquals project with Habitat for Humanity Macedonia, Zulfia's family received financial support to legalize their home, though moisture and roof issues still remain. Despite these challenges, the Bekirovski family remains hopeful, finding comfort in the warmth of their home and the love they share. 🏠 A safe and secure home is more than just a roof over your head—it's the foundation for a better future.

In the European Union, approximately 1 in 10 households spend over 40% of their income on housing costs, indicating a significant housing affordability issue.
