Marka camp, also known as Schneller camp was established in Jordan as a temporary solution to host Palestinian refugees. Today, over 68,000 people still call it home. As part of our #HomeEquals campaign, we're taking steps to address the housing challenges faced by families in Marka Camp. We're working on practical solutions to help transform these temporary shelters into stable, secure homes. 🔗 Learn more about the enduring struggle facing residents of the camp and Habitat for Humanity - Jordan intervention: https://ow.ly/aPmS50T9uC0

Introducing Creshendo’s Storytelling Project We’re proud to launch a new initiative that amplifies refugee stories, sharing personal journeys of resilience and hope to foster understanding and challenge misconceptions about displaced communities. Antonio’s journey began in 1989 when he left Guatemala with just $8. This snippet is just one part of his story, and we’ll continue to share more from his experience and others like him in the coming weeks. Through this project, we hope to bring refugee voices to the forefront and inspire action. Follow along as we highlight stories of strength and courage that need to be heard. #StoriesOfStrength #RefugeeVoices #VoicesOfChange #RefugeeStories #MigrationJourney #Storytelling #GlobalRefugeeStories #HumanStories #CreshendoStories #EmpathyInAction #GlobalStories #SupportRefugees #StorytellingForChange #DonateForImpact #VolunteerToday #CreshendoImpact #RefugeeIntegration #GlobalImpact

Today, I had to return to the office from the camp due to the bad weather and for our safety, rather than staying as usual. The severe impact of Cyclone Remal on the Rohingya refugee camp left me with a heavy heart. As a Case Management responsible person for Child-Individual Needs and Protection, the scenes I encountered were heart-wrenching. The relentless rain and powerful winds are creating immense challenges for these already vulnerable individuals. I saw children trembling in the harsh weather, their fragile bamboo shelters barely holding up against the elements. Some children, without even the basic protection of clothing, were running with their parents, talking about their homes being destroyed by the wind. Many were asking where they would find shelter for the night. The older people looked at us with such sadness, perhaps silently questioning where their land of peace had gone. The hilly terrain exacerbates the situation, with rainwater flooding homes and making survival even more precarious. Lacs of Rohingya refugees live in constant threat, struggling to endure these harsh conditions. It felt deeply uncomfortable and awkward to return to the safety of our office, knowing that so many are left to fend for themselves in such dire circumstances. Now, as I sit at home, I can't help but think about their current situation. How are the patients of illness, the children under five, and the elderly coping? The questions keep swirling in my mind without any answers. In this generation, is it really possible to live in a temporary shelter with a muddy floor, rain coming through a bamboo roof, and the constant threat of landslides? Is it possible to live within just a few kilometers, with no access to go beyond this confined area where there are only hills and nothing else? Their resilience in the face of such adversity is truly humbling. As we continue our work, it’s imperative to raise awareness and mobilize more support for these communities. They need immediate assistance to weather this storm and long-term solutions to ensure their safety and dignity. Let us come together to support and advocate for the Rohingya refugees, especially the children who deserve a chance to grow up in a secure and nurturing environment. #RohingyaRefugees #CycloneRemal #HumanitarianAid #ChildProtection #RefugeeSupport

Empathy and empathising is important
A time for reflection at the end of one of our first Desperate Journeys immersive workshops in Devon. This week, we’ve been allowed to transform St Peter’s Church in Ilfracombe. Desperate Journeys is a powerful refugee crisis workshop based firmly on facts, first-hand accounts, and case studies; it aims to bring home the human stories behind the news headlines. We are working in partnership with The Pickwell Foundation and a wonderful team of volunteers. Over the course of this week, we will be sharing thoughts and reflections from the cast and participants. #empathy #empathymatters #refugeecrisis #refugeeswelcome

On June 20 for the "Standing in Solidarity" event, I had the privilege of introducing and closing a crucial discussion on displaced communities in #Burma, specifically in #Chin, #Karenni, and #Shan states. I aimed to highlight the pressing issue of Burma's expanding displacement community and their daily struggles. 🔘Since the 2021 coup, over 1.3 million refugees, 3 million IDPs, and 632,000 #stateless individuals have struggled amidst armed conflict and natural disasters like #CycloneMocha. In October 2023, conflict further escalated and worsened conditions, creating an urgent humanitarian crisis that demands our attention. The situation facing #IDPs and #refugees in Burma is dire. Many endure cramped living conditions, food and water shortages, and unsanitary environments, exacerbating their vulnerability. The international community must step up now with immediate humanitarian aid and policies that support these displaced communities. ______ 🎞️ Watch the full video to hear more from our insightful speakers working directly on the ground in Chin, Karenni, and Shan states, and join us in standing in solidarity with Burma's displaced communities: https://lnkd.in/dzDGDgxg

Millions of children worldwide are displaced due to conflict and persecution. This Refugee Week, Dream Networks joins the call for empathy and action. Play is a fundamental right, yet countless displaced children are missing out. War and displacement disrupt routines, destroy safe spaces, and leave children feeling isolated and stressed. At Dream Networks, we believe in the power of play as a tool for healing and resilience. This Refugee Week, let's champion the right of every child to play and thrive, no matter their background. Together, we can create safe, nurturing spaces where every child has the chance to grow, learn, and experience the joy of play. 🌍💖 #RefugeeWeek #PowerOfPlay #standwithrefugees #play4all

Today on World Refugee Day, we honor the strength and resilience of refugees around the world. Let's stand together in support of those who have been forced to flee their homes. For more information, read here: https://lnkd.in/eB-PgqW World Refugee Day, observed on June 20th, is dedicated to raising awareness about the plight of refugees and celebrating their courage and contributions to society. This day reminds us of the millions of people who have been displaced due to conflict, persecution, or natural disasters. Supporting refugees in our community can take many forms: volunteer your time to local organisations that provide services to refugees, donate to charities and nonprofits that support refugees with essential services such as housing, education, and healthcare, advocate for policies that protect and empower refugees, and offer a helping hand through simple acts of kindness, such as offering friendship and support. By coming together, we can help refugees rebuild their lives and create a more inclusive and compassionate world. 🌍💪❤️ - - - - - - - - - #WorldRefugeeDay #SupportRefugees #WithRefugees #RefugeeAwareness #StandWithRefugees #HumanRights #RefugeeRights #GlobalSolidarity #RefugeeSupport #ActForRefugees #WelcomeRefugees #RefugeeAdvocacy #InclusiveCommunity #CompassionInAction #RefugeeStories

🤔 What does access to justice mean for forcibly displaced communities? Asylum Access CEO Sana Mustafa / سنا مصطفى unpacks this question with Pathfinders for Peaceful, Just and Inclusive Societies while revealing the organization’s approach to redistributing power and resources through their initiatives. 🌟 The Resourcing Refugee Leadership Initiative redirects donor funds directly to refugee-led organizations, allowing refugees themselves to have control over the funds and donors to overcome the challenges of directly giving to these organizations. 🌍 By focusing on resources and power, Asylum Access is ensuring a more just world. 🔗 Learn more: https://lnkd.in/gZ4RtbvK #SDG16Plus #RefugeeLead

I do all three. For years & years & years. So, a rethink on how best to manage and prevent this form of hatred that is racism is required from everyone concerned. Let's think practically. Think about young people in schools being bullied? #racism We need a plan, developed with and by families in education who experience racism, to change our way of thinking and dealing with racism, and protecting young people suffering. What now United Nations ? What next? Ignore me? Then you will need to join the queue. One says the right thing, everyone gets onboard to love and support, one does the right thing, everyone stands and stares, wondering what? the #### is one doing... Because if everyone was doing the right thing, there would be no wrongdoing. 'Out beyond ideas of wrongdoing and rightdoing, there is a field. I’ll meet you there' - Rumi
Racism poisons communities, fuels conflict and creates obstacles for peace. But, all of us can take action to #FightRacism: 🔹 Speak up and advocate for change. 🔹 Educate yourself and others on the issues. 🔹 Show support by donating your time and skills. https://lnkd.in/eGkSCSKK 📷: UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency
