It's Space Marine 1 but better. Servers could use some work but otherwise, 10/10.

Take bad reviews with a grain of salt, weird internet men are mad that there's a black character on the game's cover and smearing the game over it. It's a good game, especially if you like/d Suikoden.

Everytime players discover fun guns to use, they get nerfed.
Bad guns don't get buffed enough to make up for it, so every patch you just end up feeling worse than before.

Also, mandatory PSN account now required, meaning the game can't be played in tons of countries anymore. Devs have said it wasn't their decision and Sony forced them. Not a good look for Sony.

Great game. If for whatever reason it should run out of entertainment value for you, go the Steam forums and look at the censorship threads, and tell yourself you're still having a better time than the fully grown men asking to look up the skirts of fifteen year old girls.

Early Access Review
Lots of potential if they keep development up. The biggest flaw with the game is the fact the modding scene is third-party. I think if the devs work together with the modders, to distribute mods in-game via an interface, or just straight up include the good ones in the game directly, it would remove a barrier of entry to the game. Also: play this with others, not solo, it's way better with company.

For the pricetag this is a solid no.

Bugs are extremely frequent; enemies who suddenly stop having HP displays or who full-heal when killed (and I don't mean the ones who are meant to do that), characters getting stuck out of bounds and preventing you from exiting the area, dialog options that end the conversion without a response at all...

There's also a lot of very questionable design decisions. Quests that do not update/finish properly, rumors that stay in your quest log forever even after being completed, easily missable unlocks or quests before the game even teaches you about them (for example, when you visit Foulstone, you can permanently lock yourself out of having it as a colony, which is not only a huge deal but also locks you out of projects on your other colonies, and this happens before you're even taught about the colony system). Ship combat is clunky and slow and could use a "double speed" button. Some companions come with objectively bad class choices for how they're meant to be used, and some classes are just objectively better full stop.

The space region map is also kind of... not very good. It doesn't make it clear when there's new things to do in star systems you've already explored, meaning that being thorough means visiting every star system one by one every now and again, just in case there's something new to see. Couple this with my biggest gripe with this game:

Even on an SSD, loading takes anywhere between 5 and 10 seconds. And sometimes you will be seeing loading screens very, very frequently, which incidentally discourages bouncing between star systems a lot to check them.

What is there is fun, and the narrative is amazing, the world design and building is 500% on-point. But I just can't recommend the game until they at least fix the bugs, ESPECIALLY the quest log, and pay a bit more attention to how some things are unfairly easy to lock yourself out of permanently without meaning to. Playing this with a guide is highly recommended, and that's unfortunate.

50% off is the minimum on-sale value I'd say to aim for, especially with the hefty price of the extra DLC content on top. For the same price you could be enjoying Baldur's Gate 3, the exact same kind of game but better designed, balanced, and more stable, and that's kind of a huge problem.

If you're going to pick this up, look into a mod called "Toybox". It has a lot of QoL features that address some of the bugs and issues in the game, like the ability to teleport your crew to yourself if they get stuck out of bounds, or being able to remove rumors and quests from your quest log if they bugged out. Also, seriously, pay attention to Foulstone when you go, it is vital that you not miss it as a colony. Missing it bugs a quest permanently and screws up your future colonies too.

Hopefully they do some QoL updates in the future, before their DLC comes out.

An androgynous possibly genderfluid sword-wielder straight out of mythology appears to save a Japanese sword-obsessed dead-inside fire survivor from a murderous ghost. You will learn that the fire survivor was adopted by a now-dead badass human who deeply impacted him and made him want to be the same, and now has a meek plot-relevant younger sister-like figure who cooks for him.

Hang on...

Try not to have too much fun in this game or they might nerf it.

It's more Payday. If you liked Payday and Payday 2 you'll probably like this? Stealth is vastly improved, gunplay too. The experience systems need some work though, and with only 8 heists at launch it's definitely a more modest offering if you're coming over from Payday 2 and its 10 years of content.
