We are excited to share that Nimo Ahmed has joined our Board as one of our newest members, alongside three other new members who we will introduce in the coming weeks. Nimo is the co-founder of The Sisterhood, which is Indonesia's first organisation led by refugee women, committed to providing a safe space for displaced women and girls. Just over a year ago, Nimo became the first sponsored refugee in the Community Refugee Sponsorship programme to settle in Aotearoa New Zealand. She is active in her new community and continues to support The Sisterhood. We are delighted that Nimo has accepted her nomination to the HOST Board. Welcome, Nimo. https://lnkd.in/emCM6t7j

🔊 “We want to emphasise our need as displaced women for space and support from other feminist organisations, whether they are local or from around the region.” Our co-founder and Director, Nimo Ahmed, had the opportunity to join the Asia Pacific Feminist Forum in Thailand last week and speak alongside other feminist advocates on resourcing feminist movements. We got connected with many feminists and could explain the situation of displaced women and the barriers to accessing funding. 📍 “Funders and feminists are working on the problems in the countries where we come from… but the challenges we face can be even greater when we are here in the transit countries in Asia for 5-10 years or more.” “We need enough resources to ensure our safety and protection from harmful individuals or political threats.
