We provide advocacy, community empowerment, and legal services to refugees 🌍. Proudly refugee-led
About us
Most of the world’s refugees spend decades or generations confined in camps, prohibited from working, or otherwise prevented from rebuilding their lives. Asylum Access was founded to change this. We are an international nonprofit founded to make refugee rights a reality in Africa, Asia, and Latin America. Our advocates help refugees access their fundamental rights to safety, employment, education, and protection. Asylum Access believe all refugees deserve a fair chance at a new life. All over the world, we challenge barriers that keep refugees from living safely, moving freely, working and attending school – because when refugees can rebuild their lives, nations thrive. Asylum Access is headquartered in the San Francisco Bay Area, USA.

Refugee or migrant? 🤔 These terms are not interchangeable.☝🏽 A refugee is someone forced to leave due to persecution. A migrant moves for different reasons. 🚨Misusing these words affects policy and protection. #LanguageMatters #RefugeeNotMigrant #HumanitarianLaw

Forced displacement often brings unimaginable trauma and loss. For many refugees, access to #MentalHealth services is either limited or nonexistent in the places where they seek safety. Although mental health is a universal right, it remains out of reach for too many, and it can become a significant barrier to rebuilding their lives. This year, World Mental Health Day highlights the critical connection between mental health and work. Safe, supportive working environments are essential in promoting mental well-being. However, stigma, discrimination, and exploitation against refugees further harms people who have endured forced displacement. 💼 Employers of forcibly displaced people must prioritize creating safe, inclusive workspaces where #refugees can thrive. Fostering mental health support, both inside and outside the workplace, is a fundamental aspect of upholding their human rights and ensuring their overall well-being. 🤝 #WorldMentalHealthDay #AsylumAccess #RefugeeRights #HumanRights #MentalHealthMatters

One year has passed since Hamas killed 1,200 people in Israel and took more than 250 hostages. The Israeli military then invaded #Gaza on October 7, 2023, and this offensive has led to one of the most destructive wars in recent history. Over 42,000 people have been killed and around 90% of Gaza’s 2.3 million people have been displaced. This humanitarian catastrophe is devastating, and the fact this atrocity has been allowed to unfold has left a deep moral wound on humanity. We owe it to all the civilian victims, and to ourselves, to continue pushing for peace and respect for human rights in the region. #CeasefireNow #Palestine #Israel

Language shapes our perception of reality. When we speak about refugees and forcibly displaced persons, the words we choose matter—they can either empower or further harm them. Explore with us why choosing the right language is essential in humanitarian work. #LanguageMatters #RefugeeRights #AsylumAccess #HumanRights #WordsMatter
