📢Our regional conference on People-centered Justice is now open for registration! Register 👉 pcjasiapacific.com The UNDP in Asia and the Pacific, the Thailand Institute of Justice (TIJ), the UN Environment Programme (UNEP) Regional Office for Asia and the Pacific, and UN Women Asia and the Pacific, in partnership with the World Justice Project (WJP), IDLO - International Development Law Organization and UNICEF East Asia and Pacific, will host a pivotal regional conference on “Achieving Just Societies: Inclusive Justice Pathways for People and Planet in Asia and the Pacific” from November 11 to 13, 2024, at the United Nations Conference Center in Bangkok. In recent decades, many countries in Asia and the Pacific have experienced rapid economic growth but have faced significant challenges in sustaining peace, protecting the #environment, and safeguarding #humanrights. The development model in these states can be described as “building the boat while sailing it,” meaning that economic growth has often been accompanied by experimental approaches to addressing #development challenges. Pressing issues such as #climatechange, #conflict, and forced displacement highlight the need to transition from a state-centric model—often serving only a select few—to a people-centered approach that places the rights, needs, and aspirations of individuals at the forefront. The conference will serve as a dynamic platform for stakeholders to exchange insights, address challenges, and explore innovative, data-driven, and evidence-based approaches to enhancing equal and inclusive access to justice for all through people-centered methods, including in #crisis-affected settings. 🗓 Mark your calendars for 11-13 November 2024 and join us at the conference!
