Myth: Reducing speed causes congestion (source: Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) Urban congestion is mainly caused by frequent intersections, not speed. Focusing only on traffic flow ignores the real costs, crashes and pollution linked to high speeds. Cities with better public transport and active mobility face less congestion. #RoadSafetyUg Global Road Safety Partnership Global Health Advocacy Incubator

Centre for Policy Analysis reposted this
And it's a wrap: Feeling reinvigorated and grateful after a week in Kampala and Jinja with road safety partners. I continue to be inspired by the progress advocates have made in such a short time. The road safety advocacy coalition puts their heart and soul into this work. Advocates understand the complexities of road safety issues: their advocacy work is informed by their personal experiences around road crashes along with stories of loved ones touched by this issue. Road safety goes beyond transport, it's about people, economic opportunities, public health and it's essential for everyday life. Excited for the continued progress on boda bodas, speed + safety in and around schools along with so many other issues. Bye for now Uganda and see you soon.

Myth: Reducing speed limits will have a negative economic impact. (source: Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) Slower speeds, safer streets! Lower urban speed limits and better transport and mobility infrastructure make cities safer, greener, and more vibrant without major delays. Let's prioritise people over speed! #RoadSafetyUg

Effective road safety requires a multisectoral approach, where different stakeholders work together to create safer roads for everyone. Organisations under the Road Safety Advocacy Coalition Uganda (ROSACU) collaborate with key institutions like Ministry of Works and Transport, Kampala Capital City Authority, and other partners to push for: ✅ Stronger policies that prioritise road safety. ✅ Enhanced law enforcement to reduce traffic violations. ✅ Community education programs to promote responsible road use. #RoadSafetyUG

By uniting our expertise and aligning our efforts, we are working to ensure that road safety interventions are structured, data-driven, and sustainable. Our shared goal is to create safer roads for all Ugandans through evidence-based policies, strategic advocacy, and impactful initiatives. #RoadSafetyUg Timothy Chemonges
