We catalyze developments in the sector through increased engagement, information exchange and targeted communication. Our mission is to tell the story of Ugandan entrepreneurship to a global audience and thus increase exposure to international investment and partnerships for the members of the ecosystem.

    Diplomatic Mission to Tunisia: Meeting with Flat6Labs Our Ugandan delegation represented @MTICuganda, @MICT_Uganda, @MoFPEDUganda, @StartupUganda, and @JICA_Uganda, had the pleasure of meeting with Flat6Labs, a leading seed-stage venture capital firm and startup accelerator in the Middle East and North Africa region. Flat6Labs is a member of AfriLabs and has invested in over 100 startups across eight countries. They offer a range of programs and services to support startups, including: • Seed funding • Mentorship and training • Market access • Corporate partnerships During our meeting, we discussed a wide range of topics, including: • The importance of investing in early-stage startups. • The challenges and opportunities facing the African startup ecosystem. • The role of Flat6Labs in supporting the Tunisian startup ecosystem. • The potential for collaboration between Flat6Labs and Ugandan startups. We were impressed by Flat6Labs' commitment to supporting the startup ecosystem and their track record of success. We believe that their experience and insights can be invaluable to Uganda as we seek to build a thriving startup ecosystem and digital economy. Key Takeaways from the Meeting: • Flat6Labs has launched a $95 million seed fund called the Africa Fund to invest in early-stage startups across Africa. • Flat6Labs has a strong track record of investing in fast-growing startups, including HawaYa, Washmen, Gomycode, DabCity, MoneyFellows, Chefaa, Instabag, and NotDesk. • Flat6Labs offers a range of ecosystem development programs to support startups outside of the capital city, including Ignite Tunisia, Spark Tunisia, Green4Youth, StartMashreq, Maker Accelerator, Fintech Accelerator, SheStarts Bootcamp, and Femtech Accelerator. • Flat6Labs is organizing an Africa Roadshow to create a pipeline of startups for the Africa Seed Fund.     Diplomatic Mission to Tunisia: Meeting with THE DOT, Africa's Largest Hub Our Ugandan delegation, represented @MTICuganda, @MICT_Uganda, @MoFPEDUganda, @StartupUganda, and @JICA_Uganda, visited THE DOT, the largest hub in Africa, located in the heart of Tunis. THE DOT is a vibrant and inclusive space that offers a wide range of programs and services to support entrepreneurs, startups, and the broader community. These include: • DOTCamp: A pre-incubation program for early-stage startups. • Executives-in-Residence: Mentorship and support from experienced business leaders. • Diaspora Program: Connecting Tunisian diaspora with opportunities in Tunisia. • Community Services: Training and resources for job seekers and small businesses. • FabSkill: A makerspace and training center for digital fabrication and prototyping. • BridgeUp: A program that supports startups in scaling up their businesses. • DOTCamp Plus: A post-acceleration program for high-growth startups. Since its launch in 2021, THE DOT has hosted over 1,000 events and welcomed over 40,000 participants. It has played a significant role in fostering entrepreneurship, innovation, and community development in Tunisia. We were impressed by THE DOT’s commitment to creating an inclusive and supportive environment for all. Thrilled to have led a delegation from Uganda, including representatives from @MTICuganda, @MICT_Uganda, @MoFPEDUganda, @StartupUganda, @PSFUganda, @JICA_Uganda, and the Ninja Project, on a visit to the Tunisian Ministry of Communication and Technologies. We engaged in fruitful discussions on the innovative #StartupTunisia program and the role it plays in the #TunisiaDigitalEconomy. The program's success in fostering a vibrant startup ecosystem is inspiring and offers valuable lessons for Uganda.
