Ideas to life...

About us

The Innovation Village is a destination entrepreneur’s call home. Our idea is simple, everybody who has an idea that could transform society should be given the opportunity to do so. Setting out in mid-2015, our motivation came from watching multiple innovation competitions and award ceremonies that focus on the top 3 winners out of 100 submissions. In trying to answer what happens to the 97 ventures, we built The Innovation Village to be a destination they call home. Today we have converged over 2,000 entrepreneurs 40% of these young women across six sector labs. Our standard solution offering across the Labs is access to Capital, Capacity, Networks, Insights on Sector trends, Market opportunities and influencing policy. We have created the largest destination of entrepreneurs in the country by bringing together key players—from startups and global brands, to government agencies, academic institutions, tech incubators and accelerators—to create an entrepreneurial density like no other. Resultantly we have created the same destination for investors, corporate, academia and global partners like Andela, Challenges Worldwide, EnVentures and FinAfrica who are happily collocating with our budging startup entrepreneurs. Our goal is to help foster a wave of companies that make not just a measurable impact in the world, but a noticeable improvement in the lives of everyone on the planet.

The average AI readiness index for all countries in Africa is currently 26.91, which is below the halfway mark. Only Egypt, Kenya, South Africa, and Tunisia recorded index values above 40, with none surpassing 50. This indicates a pressing need for enhanced efforts to expedite the use and adoption of AI activities across the continent. Last week, AfriLabs and Gatesfoundation launched a report on mapping AI start-ups in Africa to provide a detailed mapping of AI startups across Africa. The report categorizes startups by their areas of focus, stages of development, and geographical distribution, presenting a clear picture of the current AI landscape. The study also delves into the unique challenges and opportunities these startups face within Africa’s socio-economic environment. Download the report now - bit.ly/AI-Report-2

As we work towards building the Future of Work practice, one thing that remains clear is that the opportunities you seek within the gig economy will only be actualized when you actively pursue it. "The future of work demands intentionality, resilience, and adaptability. I know the road is not easy, and challenges will persist, but the path to success is forged through consistent, focused effort. As freelancers working for the global marketplace, you have access to unprecedented tools and platforms that remove geographical barriers, allowing you to think and operate beyond Uganda. Opportunities may not always be in close proximity, but with the right skills and mindset, they can be found anywhere in the world. Focus on becoming so exceptional in your craft that you can't be ignored." CK Japheth Join our freelancer community - https://flx.africa/

#MatatuFilmLab #FlashBackFriday Earlier this week, our Mbarara team hosted Hollywood film director Jason Zavaleta, known for his movie "I Wrote This for You." His visit left a lasting impact on filmmakers in Southwestern Uganda. With support from the @US Mission Uganda, Film Possible held the #MatatuFilmLab bootcamp, empowering local filmmakers, scriptwriters, and content curators to master filmmaking using smartphones. Through hands-on training, participants learned essential skills in writing, filming, editing, and producing impactful stories using accessible technology, transforming their ability to create high-quality content.
