Today was a good day for our founder! As we continue to build, the timing couldn’t have been any more perfect to have been invited to DixonBaxi for a conversation with Simon Dixon. If you know anything about our founder you’ll know that this was a big deal! We think the 2nd photo gives this away 🤣 #mentorship #branding #design #DixonBaxi #478Studios

Today was a good day! One of those days where the fire is reignited and you’re reminded of the significance of seeking wise counsel from those who have trodden the path before you. Today I met my design idol, Simon Dixon. For many in our industry Simon Dixon and Aporva Baxi are the ultimate duo, the GOATS, and the much loved founders of the global branding agency DixonBaxi. After successfully(-ish) maintaining my cool, the pen and pad were ready to note down every gem and piece of wisdom that was shared. For the designers and founders in my circle, here a 5 of the many gems I noted and wanted to share. 👉🏾 The importance of the 25% - At various times of building, be intentional in preserving 25% to manage and strategically grow your business. 👉🏾 Profit over turnover 👉🏾 As creatives, perceived value can be gained from how well we tell our stories. Are we showcasing the radically positive effect our work has had on the entrepreneurs and businesses we worked with? 👉🏾 If you believe you have a great proposition, identify how you can package this and share it with other audiences. Larger bodies or brands that align with your values and could not only help you scale your impact, but also help you to amplify your voice. 👉🏾At the end of it, make sure you’re doing work that will make you famous! Does your work spark a reaction and conversation! I would be lying if I wasn’t over joyed as I left the studio, so much so I sent my fellow design buddy and day 1 Ian Dawson a selfie (2nd photo) Time to implement. Excited for this next season of 478 Studios. Thank you, Simon!

We're proud to announce that we at 478 Studios have been officially certified by Clutch, highlighting our commitment to excellence and diversity. This recognition enables us to better support under-represented founders facing challenges in branding, marketing, and funding. The Clutch Minority certification is crucial to our business because it enables us to address the significant challenges faced by under-represented and diverse founders. Research shows that black founders, for example, often struggle to access funding, with 56% receiving financial support only after establishing a successful, revenue-generating business, compared to 35% of their white counterparts. Additionally, 47% of under-represented founders lack expertise in crucial areas such as branding, marketing, and advertising. At 478 Studios, we are keen to partner with organisations dedicated to closing these gaps as we embark on our mission to provide tailored creative and strategic services that empower diverse founders to build strong brands and achieve business success. This certification is a testament to our mission and belief that 'conscious brands led by purposeful and diverse founders will change the world.' For more information on our certification, click the link in the comments to read the full press release.

A huge congratulations to Bukky Asehinde for what was a sensational week showcasing some of the most incredible creatives, designers and brands inspired and from the majestic continent of Africa. UK Black Business Show we loved ya! What a day! After reflecting on the wins of the week, I couldn’t kick off another without gratitude so I scribbled down the following and the title Embrace your weakness, trust God and share your story came to mind… Shall we? This weekend I had the joy of attending the UK Black Business Show and making it a family affair. Kicking off the day, we had the opportunity to host a round table session in partnership with the phenomenal Shanice Hoo Mills who shared gems upon gems on all things PR before I wrapped up conversations with branding and the power of understanding your ideal customers, ambassadors and advocates. Shortly after I had the privilege of joining Tinique Hay {Your Go-To Event Planner} Denise Myers Janay-Marie M. and Eva Akase Simpson on the stage where we touched on the importance of personal branding, the role storytelling plays in an individuals journey and of-course PR and an extra helping of branding. Cheered on by Juliana O. and son in the front row, not to mention an exceptional room, the fears of the 17 year old guy who struggled (and still does today) with a speech impediment and stammer melted away. The mindset shifted to taking the advice I often give out. 👉🏾 Just tell your story; and 👉🏾 try and share something that is of value… So with that said, here’s to a mindset shift that continues to embrace weaknesses and rebranding the word ‘challenge’ to ‘opportunity’. Special thanks to Indie Love Gordon for the invitation and support and a huge congratulations to Dr. Raphael Sofoluke and the team for another brilliant showcase. #storytelling #branding #blackbusinessshow #kallureconsulting #designagency #478studios

New work alert! Introducing Neuro Voices, a start up dedicated to creating innovative tools, software, and specialist programmes for neurodivergent individuals to thrive, excel and remain connected. Our job: Craft a brand strategy and deliver a revamped visual identity and design system that matched a bold vision to serve a global neurodivergent community. WHAT WE DID. In true 478 fashion we immersed ourselves in their story, understanding their values, and unique perspective. Drawing inspiration from their commitment to community and inclusion, it was our goal to design a brand identity that radiates personality, and connection, which manifested across our 3 step process. 1️⃣ Strategy: Positioning and Messaging.✏️ As big believers of building on solid ground, we hosted our signature brand strategy workshop with a focus on: 👉🏾 brand messaging 👉🏾 tone of voice; and 👉🏾 positioning to suit their demographic split. Fuelled by revelation and conversation we landed on a messaging framework titled ‘we see you', and 'we hear you'. A sentiment designed to position Neuro Voices as a progressive startup that understands the complexity and nuances associated with neurodivergence. 2️⃣ The Science Behind the Identity 🔬 Inspired by synapses, the biological elements that pass signals and information around the brain, we wanted to create a symbol that was relatable and provokes a story. With the help of motion and form, it was important, we conveyed a sense of community, connection, and individuals coming together. 3️⃣ Humanising tech with playful & bold design 🎨 As part of our playful approach to this revamp, an ambition of ours was to create a visual language and design system that was truly as bold as their purpose. From experimenting with shape, form and colour to creating bespoke typography, play became synonymous with this project. With the new identity unveiled, we are excited to have showcased how design can be used as a vehicle to promote inclusion and improve how founders with exceptional ideas show up in the world. Special thanks to Ammar Mourad for inviting us on the ride! If you're a pre-seed to seed startup looking to revamp your brand, we’d love to talk to you.
