When we’re talking about collaborative environments, what do we mean by component locking? And why is it useful? Component locking is the capability to restrict access and editing of a certain element of a page or application to only one user at a time. It’s useful because it avoids: ⭐Undefined behavior ⭐Collisions in data editing ⭐Unexpected results All of which can result in problems after editing. In the final video of our Ably Spaces series we show you how to implement component locking yourself, in just a few lines of code, with the Ably Spaces SDK. We show you, in realtime, how quick and easy it is to define locks and guarantee all lock states are synchronized across all clients.
