Today marks the launch of 'Everything' - a powerful new fostering film produced by a growing partnership of councils and children’s trusts to promote local authority fostering. 🎥 ‘Everything’ follows foster carer Mike and his family on a journey through time with two of the children they have looked after, who are now adults. A surprise 60th birthday party for Mike gives Will and Zara a chance to reflect on how being fostered made a difference to their lives, thanking him for everything. The concluding message of the film is that what you do with your life could forever change someone else’s – encouraging people to foster in order to make that change. 💗 Watch the full film here: https://bit.ly/3Yt8t32 Fostering directly with your council via Achieving for Children means that you can support your local community by working with a fostering service that is dedicated to supporting local children and young people who need a nurturing, safe fostering home. 🏡 Foster for your local authority. In April 2024, we celebrated our 10th birthday. Instead of holding a corporate event, we chose to mark the milestone with a year of volunteering. This initiative includes a series of social and fundraising events, offering our employees the chance to try something new, support charities, and give back to local communities. As part of our year of volunteering initiatives, colleagues came together in a heartfelt way - knitting blankets, hats, and cardigans for premature babies at Kingston Hospital NHS Foundation Trust's neonatal unit. Led by Alice Lovell, the project brought together 25 colleagues, ranging from complete beginners to experienced knitters, who crafted over 80 handmade items. The pieces were donated to Kingston's neonatal unit on Saturday 5 October. There was even a personal anecdote to the donation. A colleague who gave birth at Kingston’s neonatal unit 13 years ago returned to the hospital, with her son, to deliver the knitted items. As an organisation, we are incredibly proud of everyone who participated in this initiative and invite you to read the full article on our website: https://lnkd.in/etu5ApyE

Are you interested in being able to improve your workforce and change the lives of care leavers for the better? 💡 The Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead, alongside Achieving for Children, are staging a free training and networking event this winter: The Better Futures Business Event 2024, which will be held at Ascot Racecourse on Thursday 28 November. When a young person enters the care system, it is often as a result of abuse and neglect. They therefore require us to provide them with the nurture, support and opportunities that we offer our own children. 💗 With the help of the Care Leaver Covenant, John Lewis & Partners, and our Educational Psychologists, we will highlight not only how you can help, but how we will provide you with ongoing advice. During this event, you will have the opportunity to speak with young people and your expertise would be invaluable. You may even leave having filled a vacancy. For further information on the day and how you can book your place, please follow this link ➡ https://bit.ly/3XMY02h
