Future Aptitude Selection Tool (FAST) Practice Test! At Symbiotics, our pilot aptitude assessments provide you with the opportunity to familiarise yourself with how an assessment works. They provide several practice attempts helping you to improve your performance level and supporting you in performing to the best of your ability in your actual assessments. It’s great for us to receive feedback from our candidates on our tests and how they are supporting them in their journey into becoming a pilot. Our FAST test measures your ability to manage a dynamic environment and your likelihood to succeed within aviation. The assessment is generally used as a precursor to an assessment centre or acceptance onto a training programme. Our FAST assessment replicates the intense and demanding work environment experienced by pilots by requiring you to deal with multiple information sources simultaneously. To take this assessment you’ll need a PC/Laptop, Internet Connection, the latest Chrome Web Browser and audio. The pilot aptitude testing process is a very important element in Airlines and Aviation Training Organisations' assessment and selection process for new cadets, helping them to predict how successful you are likely to be in the training and ultimately in your career as a pilot. At Symbiotics, our Maths test is used by clients to establish whether your Maths knowledge is at the level required for you to be successful in your pilot training. The practice test enables you to see what sorts of questions you are likely to be asked during your actual pilot aptitude tests, helping to reduce test anxiety and allowing you to see any areas that may require further revision, to support you in performing to the best of your ability on the day. The practice test is divided into different levels of difficulty: Foundation, Intermediate and Advanced and assesses your ability to apply mathematical knowledge, formulae, and calculations. Pilot Aptitude Tests are a form of psychometric tests that are used by airlines and aviation training organisations to gain insight into a cadet or pilot’s suitability for a specific role or training program. Looking at pilot aptitude assessments in more detail, these are used to assess the core pilot competencies set out by the International Civil Aviation Organization along with any other key areas defined by the aviation organisation (whether that be an airline, flight training school or other), with a view to gaining an understanding of a candidate’s skills, knowledge, behaviour, and motivation. So, what exactly is being tested? The core pilot competencies are:  • Leadership and teamwork  • Communication  • Situational Awareness  • Workload management  • Problem solving and Decision Making  • Application of Knowledge  • Aeroplane Flight Path Management  • Application of Procedures How to measure these competencies through pilot aptitude testing has been defined in a document by the International Air Transport Association (IATA) covering Guidance Material and Best Practices in Pilot Aptitude Testing.
