We welcome the Government's drive to ‘get Britain building again’ and the clarity it brings. We're hopeful that its new commitments will help to reverse the recent slowdown in UK infrastructure projects and housebuilding. While the proposed housing and planning reforms will be key to growth, it is vital that we build sustainably and responsibly by reducing CO2 and ensuring circularity. As a leading sustainable building materials supplier within the UK, we're ready to play our part in the three key areas outlined by the chancellor: 🏠 Housebuilding - From roofing to walling, driveways to drainage solutions, we support developers from the moment they break ground. What’s more, we’re pioneering innovative materials and techniques that reduce the impact on the environment – for example, we've sold more than 642,000 tonnes of CO₂-reduced products 👉 https://lnkd.in/e-_mhfhc 🛣 Infrastructure - As one of the UK's leading national surfacing contractors, we have more than 85 years of experience extending to a vast range of highway, bridge and tunnel management services. We recently helped Lancashire County Council save 41.93 kg/CO2 t of carbon emissions from their highway maintenance activities, which was described as a ‘significant milestone' 👉 https://lnkd.in/emGsu3Ae 🍃 Onshore - We specialise in the supply of products, solutions and services to the power and renewables construction industry. One example is the support we gave to the recent Longhill Burn project, a multi-million-pound wind farm built in West Lothian, Scotland. A E Yates Ltd. sought a specialist partner with the ability to supply and pour the vast 750m³ concrete requirement for each of the eight wind turbine bases at a rate of one per week. We answered the call and offered a 50% carbon reduction with our ECOPact green concrete range 👉 https://lnkd.in/eCQqQQCW ♻️ Circular economy - One way we can make a difference is through the circular economy, which helps us grow in a climate-friendly way by preserving natural resources – building new from old. Our goal is to be the industry leader and increase the volume of materials reclaimed or recycled from 1.2 million tonnes to 5 million tonnes by 2030 👉 https://lnkd.in/e5iM65DZ Look out for more updates on how we can become your partners in progress. 📸 Aggregate Industries Sivyer site and team situated in the heart of one of the world's biggest urban mines, London. #UKHousebuilding #Infrastructure #Onshore #GetBritainBuilding #CircularEconomy

How good is it to see our stone being used to help conservation in the historic Bradgate Park in Leicestershire? We donated 30 tonnes from our Bardon Hill Quarry nearby to support the Bradgate Park Trust's work in creating a new dry stone wall to protect part of the National Nature Reserve. The geology of our rock closely matches that of the park, helping it blend in with the pre-existing walls. #Conservation #Leicestershire #Quarry #BradgatePark

“The Boulevard was a sizeable brief with several key components to consider, so it was important for us that our suppliers were knowledgeable and responsive. This is something we found in the team at Charcon." As part of one of the most significant social placemaking projects being undertaken in the UK, VolkerFitzpatrick Ltd was tasked with making Crawley town centre more accessible to pedestrians and those using bicycles and scooters. Our hard landscaping team stepped up to specify the Andover textured modular paving in light grey and silver fleck, ensuring the high-footfall area was not only durable and slip-resistant, but aesthetically pleasing too. When it comes to getting Britain building, it's not just homes we need to consider but infrastructure too. We were approached by H T INSTALLATIONS LIMITED, working on behalf of BT, to support in providing ground and reinstatement works in the Swansea and Carmarthen areas. The solution was simple: we used our SuperTrench® product – an asphalt surface course mixture that is ideal for highways, footways and cycle tracks and performs well in both wet and cold conditions. Take a look for yourself and see what we found on closer inspection https://lnkd.in/eb7xZvCt #GetBritainBuilding #AggregateIndustries #Asphalt

Howl did we enhance the tennis facilities at Wolf Fields in Southall, west London? 🐺 We supported Spadeoak with resurfacing and installing new courts and fencing. Despite the complexity of the project, in just over one working week, our specialist SuperSport® asphalt not only met the LTA's performance standards and environmental objectives, but also ensured efficient water drainage. Happy Birthday cement 🎂 Today marks 200 years since Portland cement was granted its first patent and it has gone on to play a massive part in shaping our world. It is still a vital ingredient in our buildings and infrastructure and can continue to be as we progress on our journey towards net-zero. Through the use of alternative materials and fuels we are reducing the carbon emissions generated as a result of the cement production process. But it is only through the opportunity presented by carbon capture and storage via Peak Cluster that we can help achieve our decarbonisation goals and achieve a net zero future. #Cement #Netzero #CarbonEmissions #CarbonCapture #BuildingProgress

“In the UK, 40% of species are in decline and a quarter of mammals are threatened with extinction. Tackling the nature crisis won’t happen overnight, but making a start and creating a strategy will provide your business with a common goal, targets to meet and the accountability to meet them.” Our senior sustainability specialist, Tom Redfern, has spoken to edie about how it’s time for UK organisations to look beyond words and see biodiversity and nature protection in action, ahead of the landmark COP16 summit. Say hello to ECOCycle® – our circular solution that helps build new from old. ECOCycle products contain a minimum of 10% recycled construction demolition materials and are independently accredited. By turning these materials into new products, we are preserving natural resources for longer and reducing waste, building cities from cities. It means it is easier than ever to identify our products, from aggregate and asphalt to readymix concrete, with verified recycled content inside. Find out more about how you can ensure materials that were once waste are given a new lease of life in building projects ♻️ https://bit.ly/3Y7EKvu #Circularity #AggregateIndustries #Asphalt #Aggregates #CircularEconomy
