Let's start the "who we are" chat with the basics, shall we? Founded in 2011, we're a recruitment firm offering a full range of professional recruitment services. These span the Legal, HR, TMT, Sales & Marketing, Engineering & Manufacturing, Biotech and Executive Support sectors. At Alexander Lyons Solutions, we do it all - without scrimping on our dedicated in-house recruitment ethos. If you're working with us on hiring for your team, starting your career, or applying for your dream job, you can rest easy - it's all about you. So how did we get started? Legal consultancy! It all started when Alex Dick cottoned on to something many others took a few (to ten) years longer to notice: how legal consultancy and its remote working model is so much better for legal professionals looking for a true work/life balance (and the pay to go with it!). As it turns out, lawyers love legal consultancy in practice just as much as they do in theory. The rest, as they say, is history! Over the past eleven years, we've cemented ourselves as leaders in the consultancy market and expanded our reach by bringing on experienced experts in their respective fields to head up desks in their own specialisms. So if you're getting in touch with our recruiters, what can you expect? We put the focus on your needs - on getting the right person in the right job, not just putting bums in seats.     “Can I work from home?” If you get your work done, we don’t care whether you’re working at home or on a beach in the Maldives. You’re an adult and we trust you to get the work done. So why are businesses still so set on making people come into an office 5 days a week? That screams we don’t trust our employees personally. The thing is if you offer remote working you get access to a whole other market of talented candidates. Now I’m not saying go and sell up your 3-storey office, but have think about offering remote working as a standard. And FYI you can’t say hybrid and only offer 1 day working from home. If you’re going to offer hybrid surely it’s up to the candidate what works for them? #recruitment #remoteworking #remote

    Salary conversations can be awkward. It's uncomfortable for a lot of people. So don't worry, you're not the only one. But the main thing is to be confident. Avoid saying things like: ❌ Um, I’m not really comfortable… ❌ I'm sorry to ask but… ❌ Would it be okay if we… And say things like this instead: ✔ The salary I was looking for is X and would love to see how we can make this work… ✔ I am interviewing for other roles in the range… ✔ Thanks for the offer but… Remember, confidence is key.     Company benefits that make no sense to us… 1. Cycle to work scheme Yay. If you like getting to work sweaty, out of breath and continue to sit in your sweat all day. 2. Free tea and coffee Sh*tty filter coffee is my fave. Where’s the Starbucks??? 3. Flexible working Amazing. Do you mean actually flexible or I can start 30 minutes earlier, and leave 30 mins earlier? 4. Monthly team social events Are these mandatory? I don’t drink alcohol? I hate going to the pub?     - Being respectful - Being empathetic - Being compassionate Makes a good manager ☝️ Embracing a positive approach allows individuals to discover the best methods that work for them. But one thing to note is a one-size-fits-all approach rarely succeeds... It also boils down to being a supportive leader. And just not being a d*ck. So, our advice when it comes to making decisions as a manager? Put yourself in your employees' shoes. And If you wouldn't appreciate it being done to you, it's probably not the right approach. Sadly, we receive numerous messages daily recounting workplace incidents that could have been avoided. #manager #managingstyle #workculture

    Two things you can do right now to be a better recruiter. Pick up the phone. I saw a statistic on LinkedIn the other day, and he said that 17,600 people have sent him cold outreach emails and only 6 people bothered to call. And guess which ones he bought from… Those six. So stand out from the crowd and just actually put yourself out there and get to know people and show your personality. Number two, build a presence. Build your personal brand. It is only going to become more and more important to differentiate yourself in a crowded marketplace. So many people just sit there, existing in the background, and what's the point? Less than 1% of people on LinkedIn post and post regularly (I think) And most of them are posting boring crap or boasting about how they wake up at four in the morning and run 84 miles before they've had breakfast. So If you actually put effort into it and put together some great content - you could be a part of that 0.00025% that people enjoy. Be real. Be yourself. And if you do that, over time, you will build one hell of a following. And that following will be hugely loyal, because they'll feel like they know you and they'll want to work with you because they'll feel like you're a human. So start today!!

    Stop writing "remote working" under benefits in your job advert 🤮 It's not a benefit. It never was. And it still isn't. And never will be. We would be worried if it wasn't something they didn't offer… It's completely normal to offer a remote working position. So stop acting like you are doing people a favour when you put it under benefits just to fluff up your advert to make your company look appealing. Please note keyboard warriors, we mean the jobs that can be done remotely! 🙄 #RemoteWorkingNowStandard #EmployeeChoiceMatters #WorkLifeBalance
