Volunteering... Volunteer Week... Giving time for a great cause... meeting new people... making new connections... supporting other people with your time... We really couldn't do what we do with out the amazing contributions from our volunteers. Thank you! Dedicating their time and enthusiasm and skills to the warehouse, shop and board is really at the heart of reducing the impact of clothing and improving young peoples lives with the right things to wear to school, clubs and doing sport. And a massive thanks to Claire our incredible Volunteer Coordinator. Without Claire we couldn't offer the opportunities, she has been an incredible energy since joining us. Twining with lovely Deirdre - the rest of the team missed the memo... 🤩 #volunteering #volunteerweek #greatpeople #makingadifference #thankyou #community #morethanprofit #useyourpower #powerforgood

We just wanted to say a massive thanks to the wonderful Tunnock’s Bakery and Tearoom for their donation of delicious breaktime snacks for our volunteers. I mean who isn't partial to one of their famous Wafer biscuits. #sweettreats #tunnocks #donation #thanksamillion

Here's a massive shout out to Peter Page, Jim Stewart and Steven from Textile Recycling International for the donations of school uniform. The demand for clothing and uniform packages from families in Glasgow continues to grow and so getting this donation of white shirts, black and grey trousers and skirts makes a massive difference to young people returning to school or settling in Scotland for the first time. Thanks for your support and tackling clothing poverty. #collaboration #socialimpact #childpoverty #clothingpoverty #socialenterprise #circulareconomy #localreuse #communitysolutions

Maybe LinkedIn isn't the best place for this type of post but we need to use every channel we have to reach you... but we are going to do it anyway... There is a high demand for free clothing packages for families who need some extra support and we rely on working with partners from all sectors to get donations of all types of clothing and footwear which is suitable for school, home life and being active and warm. As a local social enterprise we make sure the clothing is reused for local social good, whether that is through a free package or resold at low cost. We make sure discarded clothing is harnessed for good here in Scotland. We can take all ages, types and conditions and pass on to partners the items we can't use. We would be most grateful if you are able to share this graphic and message at your work, with family and friends. So many people still don't know what we do and why. So if you are planning a clear out, then pass it to us where we can do some good with it locally. You can drop off at ApparelXchange, Glasgow city centre or southside shop. For full details visit their website www.apparelxchange.co.uk or call 07883347663. If you are limited for transport we can collect too, just email hello@apparelXchange.co.uk and they will arrange a collection.” #socialenterprise #socialimpact #businessforgood #reuse #fashion #sustainablefashion

ApparelXchange reposted this
Sustainability Specialist - Helping businesses of all sizes to understand and reduce their environmental impacts.
It's been a busy time for the Scottish Enterprise Sustainability Team. We've just wrapped up another two cohorts of our IEMA-certified Net Zero Academy, and celebrated the milestone by doing a bit of volunteering at ApparelXchange social enterprise in Glasgow. Volunteer co-ordinator Claire Jolly made the volunteering process so straightforward, and Sonja Kainonen and Sam made us feel incredibly welcome on the day - a big thank you to the whole AX team. Our task was to sort through piles of clothing donations, labelling by size and looking for defects. The volume of material for processing was huge, but by the end of the day there were a lot of empty bags and a massive pile of neatly(ish) folded clothing donations, which ApparelXchange assures us meant a job well done. I highly recommend contacting AX if your business is looking for a well-organised, enjoyable and rewarding volunteering experience. Thanks again to the AX team!

Thanks to the Scottish Enterprise Sustainability Team, we loved having you with us. All your help goes along way - the business of reuse is labour intensive... Worth it to protect our natural world and help people. Thanks
At Scottish Enterprise we are fortunate to have 21 hours of paid volunteering time allocated to us each year. Yesterday, my team and I used some of that time to help out at the brilliant ApparelXchange in Glasgow. ApparelXchange accept donations of unwanted children’s clothing and footwear which is quality checked, cleaned and sorted before being prepared for sale online or in their shop in Glasgow’s Southside. They also prepare packages of high-quality clothes that are distributed to families free of charge in times of need. The work ApparelXchange does ensures that quality garments remain in use rather than finding their way in to landfill and provide a valuable social support mechanism to families. It was a privilege for us to help out in a small way. Check out a video of their sorting facility below https://lnkd.in/e6F6NSkq

We are sharing our 2023 Impact Report. It provides a digestable summary of our work and impacts during 2023, with pages covering our social, environmental and economic achievements. We couldn't have done this without the support of funders, partners and other collaborators who have helped us to establish and grow. You can find this on our website https://lnkd.in/eRzjv9VA page down and there is a link to the full report.

Thanks so much for coming in - we really apprecaited it. Making a difference takes lots of people, espcially when it comes to clothing reuse. A huge thank you from the team.
One for my Glasgow and the west of Scotland connections... Along with a couple of my colleagues, I had the pleasure of spending the day with ApparelXchange in Glasgow on Friday helping quality check donations. ApparelXchange are a social enterprise dedicated to reuse, repair & recycling for childrenswear, with a retail store on the southside of Glasgow and their warehouse in the city centre. So, if you have any unwanted quality children's clothing looking for a new home, pop into their store at 65 Nithsdale Drive, or their warehouse at 51 Cadogan Street, and I am sure they will make sure they reach a well deserving new owner. Or, if you have some time spare, I am sure the team would be delighted to have you along to help sort through the (many!) bags of donations. Thanks again to Scott, Sonja and the team of other volunteers who made us very welcome. https://lnkd.in/es3iywuM Sonja Kainonen Laura Flanagan Angela Law Karen Young FCICM
