For this year's #NationalInclusionWeek we've been thinking about what inclusion means to us... Inclusion for us at Arch means exploring every opportunity to improve the health and well-being of people without a secure home in Brighton who are often overlooked by other healthcare providers. Our Outreach team are a fantastic example of this commitment. They travel around the city on foot or by e-bike to visit those patients who are unable to come into the surgery and take the time to build trust with people experiencing long term homelessness who may have lost faith with the health system. The team have also built relationships with the local Traveller community, which historically has faced high levels of exclusion from the health system. Everyone deserves to have access to healthcare, regardless of their circumstances or where they live. This is why Arch exists. #inclusionhealth #brightonandhove

Arch Health CIC exists to help address the health needs of people experiencing homelessness in Brighton & Hove
About us
Arch Health CIC is a Community Interest Company, set up by clinicians and professionals of Brighton & Hove in February 2016 to address the health needs of vulnerable and homeless people in the city. In November 2016 it was announced that Arch had won the contract to run the Morley Street Surgery and the homeless health engagement service for Brighton & Hove for the next 3 years after taking over the contract from The Practice Group on February 1st 2017. The new service includes in-reach services to Royal Sussex County and Mill view hospitals plus an engagement service offering non-clinical support to patients. Our vision also includes developing expertise within a wide range of organisations and heath services across the city to ensure the best health outcomes for patients. We will be working with Justlife Foundation who currently provide the Pathway Plus homeless hospital discharge service for Brighton & Hove and we anticipate developing far reaching partnerships through which will make a deep and lasting impact on those who we serve in the city. Arch stands for: ACCESSIBLE, RESTORATIVE, COMMUNITY, HEALTH Dr Chris Sargeant (Director) says: “Arch Health CIC was founded because we believe that no-one should be denied the highest standards of healthcare, whatever their circumstances. Those who make up the Arch Board have first hand experience as clinicians and managers in providing services for homeless people and those from other marginalised groups such as gypsies and travellers, vulnerable asylum seekers and sex workers. We are determined to provide everyone from these groups a standard of care at least as good as that expected by the general population, and to make the care accessible, restorative, and compassionate.“ We look forward to taking the service forward with the help of partners Inclusion Healthcare, who received an ‘outstanding’ CQC status for their homeless surgery in Leicester. At Arch we want to improve the health of the poorest fastest.

At Arch, our patients mean a lot to us. It's an honour to get to know them, and support them through any challenges from beginning to end, so it was very special to read feedback like this in our annual patient survey #homelessness #inclusionhealth #brighton #GP #primarycare

It was a pleasure to host a team from NHS England recently so they could meet our fantastic team members, see Arch services in action and understand how we're addressing health inequalities. We were thrilled to read this lovely blog after their visit too https://zurl.co/zmlZ

Today is World Suicide Prevention Day. It's worth remembering that people experiencing homelessness are at a higher risk of death by suicide than the general population. Latest figures show that 13.4% of all deaths among people without a secure home were due to suicide. If you ever feel suicidal, Samaritans are there for everyone, every day and every night, just call 116123 from any phone. It's free. For information and training resources on suicide prevention Homeless Link have some excellent guides and training modules. https://zurl.co/FEfH #homelesshealthcare
